    Hi there people

I have recently hit up on a domain from which I can comment on 600 or so pages with reasonable high PR (3-4). I have already tried a few comments and they stick if I use real people names.

When I use keyword related anchor text however, it gets shot down. I have already commented on about 20 or so but I guess I am a little eager to find out what sort of results I can expect from these links.

They are all no follow but in the same exact niche of one of my sites. OBL's are ridiculously low, sometimes just 1 or 2.
Anchor text will unfortunately be just people names. What do you guys think? Will these links help with SERP's?

I obviously cannot share the pages where these comments are as they will get spammed to death. Anyways, I will post back here to comment on my progress. Thanks - Ramsweb

A backlink is always a backlink, but you should concentrated on creating a natural link profile.

600 nofollow links and NOTHING else in a short time is not natural, it is spammy.

    Hi Ramsweb,

when it comes to backlinks it is important that you get a lot of backlinks from different server IP's! So if you could get 600 do-follow backlinks from only one site (one server IP!) it wouldn't be nearly as beneficial as if you could get 600 do-follow backlinks from 600 different sites.

So, due to the fact that the site is no-follow I would recommend you to comment on some of the high-PR sites, but don't comment on every single page of this 600 sites website, as this would look spammy and unnatural to google.

However, this site could be great to mix some nofollow backlinks into your link-building strategies, so your overall backlinks will look a lot more natural if you have some nofollow's as well!

PS: if the site is laser targeted you might get some visitors (= customers), though!

This site already has 3,000 links pointing to it already. I don't think link diversity will be a problem.

I am going to go slow with these 600. Maybe about 20-50 in a day for a while. Anyways, thanks for your posts. It will be interesting to know what other people think as well.

No follow backlinks do work, and in some cases better than ********s and in most cases less.

If some backlinks are do-follow and some are nofollow - this is good. Looks natural in google eyes

If all your backlinks are do-follow - this is bad if your site new and you building backlinks fast (looks suspicious in google eyes), and this is good if your site old or you building your backlinks very slowly (looks naturaly in google eyes)

if all your backlinks are nofollow - this is nothing if your site is old, and this can be dangerous if your site is new and you building your backlinks too fast.

Just try to think - what the natural/organic backlinks are. People coming to website, and if they liked it, the starting to telling about it to other people. Making posts on forums, blogs comenting on forum and blogs and leaving links to your site. And most of the time theese links without anchors (that's why it's important to have keyword in domain and url)

now check out what google do with nofollow links http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=96569

and you will find answer to your question ;)

btw 600 links from one domain not better than 6, depends on site of course. (10 links from http://googleblog.blogspot.com/ is MUUUUUUCH better than 1000's from noname blogs)

These 600 backlinks that I am getting are from a PR7 domain that is well liked by Google. So, I am hoping for the best as there are not many comments there.

This is like a sidewide link only with nofollow... It won't help as much as you expect too. But as Lawrencess said: A backlink is still a backlink. Can help your traffic but insignificantly IMHO.

So you aren't able to get your anchor text in there?

If not, the links might make your site more "powerful" but won't necessarily help you rank for your the keywords you want.

In backlinking, I have found absolutely no benefit in the site being relevant, but as someone mentioned above, if it's relevant, it could send you some direct traffic.

I have seen sitewide links do very well. In fact, one of my competitors just has about 10,000 sitewide links from a PR3 forum (autoblog type of thing) and is constantly on the first page for most of his keywords. He uses anchor text though. He doesn't have too many other type of backlinks.

So, I wouldn't discount sitewide links that easily.

Sitewide links aren't bad. They were for a bit, but that backfired. Now they're still good, it's just that each individual link from the same site is less powerful. Still better to have more of them. It also has a lot to do with relevance, which is why people who buy the right ones do very well.

I don't believe no follow links pass anything. People say they do, but if they do you probably at least want them from different sites instead of one. Even so, I've never seen any evidence that they pass anything, or that they don't for that matter.
