Wikipedia is going dark on Wednesday... that is making a statement.

    http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012...ti-piracy-bill/#ixzz1jhBh4l9t?test=latestnews

The world's biggest websites are calling for a day of dramatic action Wednesday against a piracy-prevention lawsuit that many fear will reshape the Internet as we now know it.

Google is the latest site to throw its weight into Wednesday's battle against the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives designed to crack down on sales of pirated U.S. products overseas. Critics say the legislation could hurt the technology industry and infringe on free-speech rights, arguing that it could weaken cyber-security for companies and hinder domain access rights.

"There are smart, targeted ways to shut down foreign rogue websites without asking American companies to censor the Internet," Google spokeswoman Samantha Smith told FoxNews.com. "So tomorrow we will be joining many other tech companies to highlight this issue on our U.S. home page."

The company plans to add a link on its home page to an anti-SOPA information site, according to CNET. And Wikipedia plans even more dramatic action, announcing Monday that it will black out the English language version of its website Wednesday in protest....

So is the 18th of Jan the day whether SOPA/PIPA will be decided once and for all? It is already the 18th where I am (am GMT+13), for all the Americans on here, I strongly urge you all to vote AGAINST anything to do with SOPA/PIPA and build as many protests as humanly possible. People here (in my on country) keep telling me theres nothing to worry about (have even been told people wish my accounts could get hacked because of my strong opposition against the bill) but if this is drafted into US Law etc then it will become a worldwide problem.

Power to the people. If this law passes, that just means the representatives in the US office, do not give a hoot about what the people want.

If they all the sudden started arresting anyone that has ever pirated anything people would act a little more accordingly.

This bill will not succeed in passing, it's for certain.
Although, they can then attempt to pass a smaller bill such as the Protect IP bill.
Imagine google bribed politicians to create a bill which makes it so they can download any movies from the cinema whenever they wish and make it publicly accessible...I'm sure all the film industries would immediately rise up against it, same here except opposite scenario, censorship as I opposed to freedom.
