Why you should stay far away from GoDaddy hosting?

Bluehost 3.5k.
hmm planning to change to hostgator or a VPS soon

I checked for two IPs and I see that I share hosting with more than 6000 sites on each IP. Godaddy really sucks.

I have always read that GoDaddy hosting sucks but I never really bothered to change my hosting plans as the traffic was too little to even bother. But, one site is beginning to get a steady stream of traffic and I started looking at site load speeds in Google analytics.

Some wordpress pages were taking 20 seconds to load. I contacted GoDaddy and they told me to install some cache plugins to improve speed. I did that and didn't see any improvement. So, I started to see if GoDaddy was really sh*t like everyone says it is.

I did a reverse lookup on my website's IP address by using this tool.

Result - My website's IP address is also host to 7,600 other websites. 7,600 websites. I am not joking. If you have GoDaddy shared hosting, check out your stats. I am sure they will be equally bad.

I also checked a few sites that were hosted on Hostgator and there were only about 100-200 sites on Hostgator shared hosting accounts.

Since it seems that site load speeds can affect SERP rankings, do take a closer look at your hosting to see if you are getting a bad deal from them.

You shouldn't use Godaddy in general, not just their hosting service.

I just bought Hostgator hosting and got my new IP. Currently, there are 3 shared websites on this IP. What a difference from Godaddy that has 7.6k shared sites....

But, the important thing is site load speeds. It will take me a couple of days to transfer hosting and I will post back results when I see them.

I have used their dedicated server service for 8 years in the adult area, anytime there was an issue I just call a number for dedicated servers 24/7 and the issue gets fixed usually while on the phone with them. My longest wait for a live person was about 5min.

I like em ;) Just my 2 cents on GoDaddy...

Cheers!

There support is the main reason most go with them- When I start to ramp up I'm thinking of going with bluehost- or A2 hosting not sure yet.

Godaddy Hosting Is so slow that google webmaster tools would not index my pages because its to slow

I'm not saying GoDaddy is great but I currently use it for my hosting and find that my sites loading time's are good. A couple of years ago they were bad and I had to create a support case but ever since then it has been fine.

Yeah, the basic HTML pages will load well on their servers. But, try installing wordpress and check your analytic reports. Inner pages on your wordpress blogs can take 10-20 seconds to load, especially if many people are trying to read the same page. At least, that was my experience.

not only their hosting service sucks, but also their domain service! I have moved all of my domains from godaddy to name.com and namecheap

Godaddy is a terrible service all around , Support is Absurd also !

I have moved over my hosting to Hostgator, from GoDaddy. Load times have definitely improved.

Go Daddy was showing load times of up to 20 seconds for some wordpress pages. With Hostgator, the longest I have seen is 7 seconds. Most of the pages are in the 0-4 second range. I am happy that I made the change.

I kept getting hacked when I was using godaddy and there user panel is awful!

Thanks for the info. I actually switched to another hosting company from Godaddy for some other reasons...

I've never used godaddy Ive used 1&1, because the service seems better and they arent trying to sell me all this crap all the time!

I would like to tell you one thing here, Though its a nice information but still.... If you do not have a dedicated host you are never going to get a UNique IP......:) So its better to spend or to stay quiet...

Gdaddy - Germany server and 7900 hosts :(

Hostgator - USA server and 1300 hosts - not good but better than GD
