I have always read that GoDaddy hosting sucks but I never really bothered to change my hosting plans as the traffic was too little to even bother. But, one site is beginning to get a steady stream of traffic and I started looking at site load speeds in Google analytics.
Some wordpress pages were taking 20 seconds to load. I contacted GoDaddy and they told me to install some cache plugins to improve speed. I did that and didn't see any improvement. So, I started to see if GoDaddy was really sh*t like everyone says it is.
I did a reverse lookup on my website's IP address by using this tool.
You can find out your website's IP by using this tool.Code:http://www.domaintools.com/research/reverse-ip/
Result - My website's IP address is also host to 7,600 other websites. 7,600 websites. I am not joking. If you have GoDaddy shared hosting, check out your stats. I am sure they will be equally bad.Code:http://www.selfseo.com/find_ip_address_of_a_website.php
I also checked a few sites that were hosted on Hostgator and there were only about 100-200 sites on Hostgator shared hosting accounts.
Since it seems that site load speeds can affect SERP rankings, do take a closer look at your hosting to see if you are getting a bad deal from them.
I have used their dedicated server service for 8 years in the adult area, anytime there was an issue I just call a number for dedicated servers 24/7 and the issue gets fixed usually while on the phone with them. My longest wait for a live person was about 5min.
I like em Just my 2 cents on GoDaddy...
Cheers!
I'm not saying GoDaddy is great but I currently use it for my hosting and find that my sites loading time's are good. A couple of years ago they were bad and I had to create a support case but ever since then it has been fine.
