?

Did you know that you can't spot differences between fake and real residential proxies?

Yes you can and there is proof. The only requirement is to buy a package and then scan for open ports on the proxies themselves - that will tell you a lot. Some researchers from a few different colleges wrote a research paper (linked below) did this with luminati, microleaves and geosurf - and found out that luminati only had about 4 mil residential IP's - and most of them were shared between the same 3 companies. They found out almost half of their network are comprised of IoT devices - defeating the idea that they get their proxies from people willingly signing up.

I agree with your sentiment. No user willingly does this without getting a payout. Look at microleaves search results on google. First 3 are about removing their malware....if that doesn't scream malware/botnet IDK what does. Also, IoT devices are notoriously vulnerable because they're usually untested firmware rolled out. Function over security.

So if I understood this correctly then https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/buypersonalproxy-com-dedicated-proxy-http-https-socks5-elite-high-anonymous-very-quick-pla.954746/ is bullshit when it comes to dedicated residential proxies?

Time is the most valuable asset and you took it to enlighten us about proxies.
As much as I know the info you shared, I really appreciate the effort you took writing this thread.

Great post! Besides FoxyProxy, can you recommend any other programs/software/extensions to create website engagement?

I won't comment on any service. As I said in the post, if it's a residential proxy, then it must have been "rented". And when is rented, it means that somebody else uses it too.

For in-browser proxy management, for the moment, foxyproxy is the one that I use. But, there are others on the market too.

This post is very usefull for understanding the nature of residential proxies. As far as I know, most small and midsize services selling residential proxies are hackers selling access to bruteforced wifi routers and malware injured pc's... Giants like Luminati sell residentials obtained through network access to their software just like the author described in his example.

Nice post but one thing that seems a bit inaccurate is asserting you cannot buy dedicated residential proxies. The author is assuming all residential proxy providers' pool of proxies are being rented. Is it possible some providers create their own isp accounts, setup devices, connect those devices to wifi networks, and then lease those ip's to consumers? Absolutely it is possible. Should a provider setup its own internet service and set up their own devices then it goes without saying the provider would have full control over those residential ip's enabling the provider to rent out the residential ips as dedicated residential ips. Just like it is possible to get approved for a DSL line from a ATT&T and then rent out the DSL line. Good information but lets make sure we are careful in assuming all providers are renting their pool of proxies ..If you are going to get residential proxies then do your research and pinpoint where the proxies are originating from then you wont have to assume anything..Remember what they say when you assume you make an ass out of you and me. Here is a youtube video to help you understand how to setup a dedicated residential proxy:

Ofcourse is possible mate... Everything is. They sure can and probably will in the future.

Yes, they can control the connection through that IP, but they won't buy that IP, they will buy the connection. So AT&T and others can anytime change that IP at their free will.

A dedicated residential proxy will be truly dedicated when the IP address is static and part of the invoice (the proxy provider actually paid for this IP, not for a mobile connection).

Thank you for the excellent article.

Is the above example related to the information in this book ?

    https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/p...eor-any-from-0-005-proxy-free-sample.1096281/

Or do they actually teach what is real? I am not a service provider. I just need proxies for a project I am working on.

I ask because I want to buy the advanced version and need to know that the information is real, not another misleading product.

I would be thankful for an help you can give.

I have no affiliation/relationship with the book you posted.

You could setup your own proxy servers, but how are you going to get the IPs for your proxy network? Do they provide you with a list of IPs? Are you actually going to buy your IPs from datacenters or ISPs?

Make sure you get the answer to these questions before creating a proxy server is the easy part. The more difficult part is actually getting the IPs.

Thanks for the great article, OP.
I'm curious, whats' your opinion on mobile proxies? They should provide same (or even better) level of quality and should be more controllable by people who run it comparing to residential proxies that you are talking about.
