What is the difference in these using one or the other? If they both have great metrics and both can be indexed what is the difference here?

Nothing worth worrying about, if the link profile is good pick it up.

Expired domain is a deleted domain unregistered......

    there both the same....

if they got good metrics and no crapy
spam links there good to buy and re use.

But I see people say they see increase in SERPS with expired and nothing with dropped? So wondering why that is.

Quoting from LeanLow's post from this thread.

Basically almost none, if you are going to use them for PBNs.

Expired domains have a slight advantage that they are aged. Disadvantage is that in the first few months expired domains tend to lose few backlinks here and there because websites that are linking to them see that the website is no longer as it used to be in most cases.

Deleted domains has an advantage because they won't lose so many backlinks as they would in the expired domain cases, because what you see in deleted domain is already after the 'period of link loosing' (if they were deleted at least for 2 months).

If you are getting the usual low-end PBN domains as most newbies do, then deleted domains are better, because when you buy an expired domain with only a few good links, it's a greater chance that it will lose those links soon and thus becomes worthless, where in delete domains example they will probably stay for longer.

Both are terms for essentially the same thing.

When you don't pay the renewal fee when it is due the domain will expire, some people refer to this as it being deleted or dropped.

Ultimately the terms are virtually interchangeable for most people.

    The steps are:
When it is about to become available due to not having its renewal paid: Dropping / Expiring
When it has become available due to no renewal fee paid: Dropped / Expired

In my experience there is very little difference. With expired domains you're essentially paying a little extra for a continual index, no chance that it's penalized and deindexed and no need to wait for Google to find the site again.

Big difference is expiring/expired domains that are still indexed might give you a little peace of mind as they are not penalised.

Both are fine but it's all about good quality and authority links.

Check archive.org to check what was linked to the domain before it got deleted/expired. If it looks good there is no reason to worry

You are buying it for the backlinks -> as long as that aspect checks out, you have a green light.

Just check backlink profile and pick up the domain if you find everything good about it
