I used to buy a lot from TF in the past without looking at the actual code first. Big mistake! Almost all of them are claiming that themes are 'SEO optimized' - big bullshit.

Let me break it down a bit. For this ex. i'll take a new theme released on 23th May called Square.
    * there are a lot of elements but for this thread i will talk about 1 main issue

    H1 tag

You all know that H1 tag is the most important heading element within your page. This 'SEO optimized' theme is using H1 to wrap up the logo.

We don't need that! The logo is not that important to put it inside a heading tag. A simple div with an image tag should be enough.

    The post title

This is where it suppose to be the H1 but instead we have the H4 tag, same as for single post title. We want the title of the post to be highlighted, not the logo + if we see 'SEO optimized' we might think (at least I do) there is also schema.org implemented - not talking about this right now.

    Why is that so important?

For most of you maybe this 'little' flaw is not a big deal, but we keep talking about the importance of the kwds in the title, description and so on and we skip this simple check.

I'm not saying it's a big factor in ur ranking efforts but surely is one of the many - keeping your keywords in the H1 tag.

I found a lot of other mistakes inside these themes in terms of SEO and we can talk about them for many hours, but this one i found that is the most important.

PS. This is not a rule, not all themes are like this one, although a big % of them are having this issue.

Yes I agree. It sells better if they say their themes are "SEO optimized". Hate that term by the way. It means "search engine optimization optimized" sound so bad.
Most lack the common sense and coding knowledge to check that kind of stuff. They have nice looking themes but most are honestly pretty bad for SEO.

the post title in lists (like at the photo) I think that should be <h2>. In the posts/articles the <h1> should be the title and the another titles should be <h2>

    Great Catch WPRipper!!!

There is a great lesson to be learned with your uncovering of this revelation [albeit a common one]; never trust anyone to perform your required in house SEO Audits.

Use Website Auditor by SEO Power Suite, Moz, Lipperhey, Traffic Travis, Market Samurai, etc.

I disagree somewhat here. I don't believe h1 tags should ever be used more than once in the page. Sure, put something more important than the logo in your h1 tag, but don't spam every post title with the thing. That's what h2 tags are for :)
