I just checked to buy a domain, since the .com was not available i have the other options. The surprise is that .org .net , etc cost 9.99 bucks per year while the .co cost 29.90 per year ! any idea why ?does google really give more importance to the new .co ?

No. But the registrars can charge whatever they want for new TLD's like dot co.

because its a fairly new tld with alot of hype around it. not worth the money unless you got a great name in the initial rush.

The real reason is obvious. Because this TLD is so small ( .co ) it's harder for the intertubes to handle, than the larger TLDs ( .com etc). So, it costs more. QED.

A funny explanation :)) .co.uk should cost a lot because they have some many letters . Isn't true.
BTW you can get a .ro for LIFE with 35 euro

Nope, you misunderstood. .co.uk is in fact bigger, and so easier for the intertubes to grasp (smaller TLDs slip through... gaps and things). For instance, did you ever wonder why we don't have a TLD that is just a period ( ".." )? It's because it would be so expensive to handle that noone could actually afford it.
