I'm writing this thread into a response I received on another one of my threads. He said that Social Media links were not important because if you're in a Niche where you wouldn't receive likes or people wouldn't like your page in particular, then you wouldn't receive any. Well, I have to say you're absolutely right! But, does that mean they're not important? Does that mean you can't get any? Listen for just a moment from someone who has experience. I don't care if you're trying to rank a website that is about the little plastic tip at the end of a shoelace. Google does not have a team that sits there saying "Well, this site isn't really a site that would receive Social Media links, let's hit the OK button and we'll let them pass". The point I'm trying to make here is that they are important. Especially with the recent Google Algorithm update/change, they are placing importance upon the number of incoming Social Media links a website has and regardless of what your site is about, you need them. Now, with that said and this is in reply to the comment I received about them not being important or not being acquirable if you're in a niche that wouldn't attract Social Media Links. If you can't get them naturally, then buy them! This is the only part within the whole process that I would recommend going Black Hat, everything else White Hat. I say that because Google doesn't check the quality of incoming Social Media links and yes, you read that right! They only count the quantity! So, let me end on this note. Unique Content and other normal SEO practices are important, but Social Media links ARE important and you do need to focus on them regardless of what your site is about and what niche you are targeting.
