Why root domain rank instead of the post URL doesn't?

    Hi folk,

Hi have multi niches site, when i make a new post and i check where does it rank in google, i see the exact post URL(www.domain.com/postname) is nowhere but the main domain (www.domain.com) ranked but between #40 - #70 , maybe after 2-3 days i see the exact post URL ranked in #5-6 but it keep disappears again and again ,and the root domain rank instead but back to #40-#70 .....etc !

I wish i did explain it well, so i'm wonder what is the reason for that. Please note :

    -This is an expired domain
    -This website 2 months old
-That happens in almost 95% of my posts

Please if you have some ideas please let me know !

    Thanks

for that "postname" page, is your keyword more optimized on your homepage vs your domain.com/postname?

did you get tons of links quickly to your postname page?

This used to happen to me but i 'fixed' it by having a static homepage (with its own unique content) so all new posts do not appear first in the homepage.

I suspect right now you have a blog style website and new posts show on homepage and the post actual page and google for some reason these days picks up the content from the homepage...instead of actual url (for some sites...) so thats why you see your home page ranking.

    Exactly what Drogon said.

The domain is expired, it has a pretty strong homepage, while your inner pages are brand new. Eventually, it will get sorted out once you build some backlinks to that inner page, but for now, the combination of onsite and offsite SEO factors benefits the homepage more than the inner page. If it were a new website, this wouldn't happen, but backlinks which are already pointing to homepage cause this.
