Using namecheap for domain and hostgator for hosting.
I am not new to DNS pointing via hosting account, but new to namecheap and hostgator, been 30 hrs long now and yet up to the net :(
I have never encounter such a long wait from other hosting companies.
Is this normal ?
thks

Yea, I hosted with idotz once. But it took 2 days for the domain to resolve. I am not sure why this happens, But, yes, it is normal.

My NC domains are up within the hour max.

Are you just using the DNS to point at hosting or are you putting in your nameservers provided by your hosting company?

lesson for others in case changing hosting company. pls don tranfer to other hosting company of your existing live sites :( before the new hosting acct come to live.
now i can just wait n wasting my time , so sad :bawling:

I don't use namecheap but I use 1and1 a lot and they are brutally slow so I feel your pain!

One thing with Host Gator though...if you noticed that the DNS has changed to Host Gator but it hasn't resolved yet, just send them a message (ticket) and ask them what the problem is. If it is on their end, they will have it up in like 10mins.

hi fatboy

I using the nameserver which email to me by hostgator which is ns12XX.hostgator.com instead of the normal ns1. n ns2. by other companies. So what make this diff, care to explain the delay? thks

Haven't a clue why - like I said, when I change nameservers etc with my NC domains they are done (well 99% are) within the hour.

PM me the domain you are trying to set up and I will have a look - I know most people love HOstgator, but for some reason my brain tells me to stay clear of them so can't help on the hosting side of things.
