Recently, due to the reduced number of sales for an increased in hops for all my clickbank promotions, I was suspicious and
thought that clickbank's tracking has went bonkers.

Till I found this recently in Clickbank's F.A.Q:

This is what I interpret the above:

If you have used any of the above, either through affiliate link cloaking software or your own coding,
the hops going through to the tracking would be invalid! Thus resulting in high hops counts but few, if any, sales!

I think that this is what is happening to most people here, including me. I was getting thousands of hops, all from
the same traffic to the same promos but they are not generating any more sales!

    :(

Who buys CB products anyways ? better you who actually promotes a product through CB?

Both in reading reports and my own experience they side with the buyer in any claims of fraud/just wanting to return it. How do you think the download section of this site gets populated with so many cool ebooks for free? Add to that the encoding in the buy URL is about the easiest thing to by pass ever and your left with a 1 in 20 chance someone will actually buy your product..

Im not suprised at all to read they are screwing affliates as well

So if you do not iframe the offer, how do you get rid of the ?hop=XXXXX at the end of the affiliate link? The ?hop=XXXXX allows people to easily change your affiliate id and get the commission for themselves.

omg... Don't know if I have this problem.. hope anyone can answer my question concerning this:

I'm using.. I think it's called php redirect.. So I'm creating a .php file with this code and upload it to my ftp server:

    Code:
    <?php
    header('Location: http://affiliate.vendor.hop.clickbank.net/');
    ?>

Is that something which could affect my commissions?!

Thank you for your help guys!

I think redirects should be OK but I am surprised if they stop counting the hops from sites that use frames... There are hundreds of sites that do not have any landing page, instead they just use frames and include the product salesletter with their hoplink....

I think its better to confirm with CB guys directly... or maybe post in their blogs or something...

I started promoting clickbank last month and I've made over $100, so clickbank promoting still works

I think you should be fine. Or use domain re-direct.

URL shortener service and php re-directs are ok and works fine.

My php re-directs are still generating sales.

The problem with the use of the above methods is the presence
of ?hop=xxxxx showing at the merchant page which defeats the
    purpose of affiliate link cloaking.

To get rid of the ?hop=xxxxx , I have previously relied heavily on
the use of frames for most of my promos. The use of frames and other
sub-window objects now generates invalid hops.

Can't discuss about CS in public here. All I can say is that only the "older generation" tricks using the sub-window objects are affected.

I recommend making entries to your .htaccess file to hide your affiliate links.

It's easy, just open you .htaccess file in th root of your website and and the following:

    redirect 301 /awesome-dating-product Your_Affiliate_Url

Now when anyone types in your_site_name.com/awesome-dating-advice they will go to your affiliate url instead.

The correct name for this is called a header redirect (for PHP programmers terminology), Because it redirects from the HTTP header information given to the browser before any HTML code is even loaded, if you try and place any HTML code before this line of code it will give you an error as its not allowed to parse any HTML code before the HTTP header is passed on.

but it does re-direct using PHP so people will know what you mean, bit of trivia ;)

I've been using iframes on several sites for over 2 years and I haven't noticed any problems.

If you want to test test it yourself by going to checkout and scroll all the way to the bottom. If you see your ID there, then you are good and should get commissions for any sales.
