I bought a site last week that is 6 years old (well, the domain is, the site is a few years old).

It hasnt been updated with any content for around 2 years but I plan to change that.

I'm adding 1 article every day for the last 3 days and after the first article or two I noticed that they got indexed really quickly - I checked 1 hour later.

So the third article that I wrote today, I decide to check was it indexed after 10 minutes, and it was!

Does anyone know why this is? I thought it would be slow at getting indexed since the site hasn't been updated in years. I'm not complaining though :)

I actually bought a 3 year old site a few days ago that hasn't had content added within the last 2 years (july, 2010) - I had the same results as you posted above after adding content.

I believe Google just loves some sites, it indexes posts almost immediately and regardless of updates it seems to rank well.

Generally the bots will still be spidering the site regardless of new content, so I'd imagine anything new they find is picked up right away.

Hmmm so its not just me.

To be honest I'm not sure if the site ranks well since its not an EMD and all the articles are just based on a broad topic

What is the PR on the site? If it's got some PR, it might be why google is indexing it a bit faster. And is it a blog or wp site? Google loves that and will keep crawling it for new content. Especially if it is unique.

Pr is 0 (which I plan to change).

It's a WP site but it looks more like a news type of site - magazine style.

    And content is all unique

Yup could be that theres a neighborhood friendly google spider that has decided to visit your page quite often. Consider yourself lucky! I notice that this happens with some of my sites and others I have to help all the blog posts get indexed.

There's no way to know for sure why google is checking out your site so often. I would just take advantage of it and start doing what you want to the site and enjoy the quick indexing.

Added another article today and it was indexed instantly.

    Weird :)
