Take a look at the stats.
Site #1 is not that old, has way fewer backlinks and indexed pages and has lower PR. It is not DMOZ listed and nor Yahoo directory listed.

Why is site#1 ranking higher than site #5?

The only explanation I think of is the difference in the type of backlinks each one has but still.....

Type and power of backlinks, keyword density, keyword in URL?

Yep, BLP doesn't really say that much.

#1 Can have 1130 relevant article backlinks from all unique domains, with the keyword as anchor.

#5 Can have 3190 backlinks from the same domain, that doesn't have the keyword once on the page, and also doesn't use the keyword in the anchor.

Very nice show-case! Is there any explanation else? I'll go for the quality of backlinks, but it seems that keyword in domain is also a major factor.

Marketsamurai doesn't have a "keyword in domain" option (only keyword in url). The #1 site has the keyword in the domain the other one doesn't.

BTW this is a very competitive keyword.

    Hi,

My opinion from what I can see is the no 5 site has not recently been indexed by google.

Also the site above may have a lesser backlinks but they may have a very high PR backlinks. The quality of the backlinks is more important than the quantity
