Why do you sound too concerned about the inclusion of that piece in Google News?

I don't have to be "curious" on how Google News works because I know how it works. I'm managing the daily news writing needs of my clients who own Google News-approved websites.

Are you trying to build your own news websites that's why you are curious on how Google News works?
Let's discuss. I'll see how I can help.

After reviewing that article you have mentioned, it looks like GN's radar didn't catch that.
The article's tone is a combination of a press release and an informative article.
You are correct that the content of that article is not time-sensitive.

my observation indicates that GN prolly didnt 'miss.'
i searched 2 different niches of mine. both of them show articles like above in like 50% of GN.

its tempting for me to conclude that if there is not much happening in a niche, GN will show non news. so the ways to get into GN might not be as strict as those i have read on the internet.

i imagine its not ez to get a site in gn, even with 5 time-sensitive posts a day. plus i dont want to go through that hassle of building an additional news site which is prolly going to take more efforts than my current sites actually.

i want to get traffic to my blog sites. it's going to take a lot of made-up stories to write 'news.' i have come to the conclusion that exaggeration is an essential element in getting attention, news or not. these articles show also that i might not even need to write a press release to get in GN, while submitting a press release does not guarantee a GN listing either. making up stories is not enough. it has to be dramatic stories.

so i just post whatever: i am the astounding world champ of the london folk dancing international open, a world famous competition. my blogsite just won the best website of the year whimbuldon award. i interviewed with obama. google map discovered my site, etc. if it doesnt get picked up by GN, it can get picked up by social circles.

i used to feel disgusted by the made-up claims, but now i am going to do it myself.

it was once shown on TV that an american scumbag posed as a 'famous' doctor with publications in medical journals visiting china. the guy actually made a presentation to a large group of chinese medical doctors. i guess when one is desperate enough, he can pull off anything. in the world we are living in, if you cannot actually do it, you hussle.

    That's what the OP said.

Thank you GN expert. However, the question still remains. Why was this in GN? More specifically, what about the article got past the "GN radar"? I sure would like to know as well. I see things in GN all the time that don't belong. This would give good insight. Thanks!

It's possible that the owner of that site was posting time-sensitive news-worthy articles while they were vying for Google News' approval. When they received GN's approval, maybe that's when they started to post "just any" news.

ok. i made my 1st attempt.

wrote a 700-word article. click publish. 2 minutes later. its indexed by google. an hour later, go to google news. not found.

    i tried:
    a hot topic
title: something is happening. (not just a noun)
    contents:
todays date, a location, name of a news wire, "survey" says,
    only 3rd person - no i,we,you

i was not sure about subheadings. it appears that most news don't have subheadings?

i am still convinced that a news release is not necessary to get into google news (this i am sure). even a news site might not be required, according to my observation. i havent paid attention to the 'about' section. it seems most dont have them. maybe they have them for their blogs.

it does seem that being a news site is the most important.

    You thought it right.

Did you publish that article in a Google News-approved website?

I've seen a lot of instances where its just pure luck.. not sure why it happens though?

Maybe it can be used to our advantage.
