if you look at GD expired domains auction, scotlandcountyhealth.org is ending soon. so far, it's been bid up to $260

the backlink profile doesn't look very strong at all and the domain itself is not marketable (it's not like apple.org)

so why in the hell are people bidding so high? am I missing something here? is it really that valuable?

What might not be valuable to you might be highly valuable to someone else.

I could sell you a 1 dollar bill for $10 if you thought it was that valuable.

asap1 is right, it might be not valuable for you - but maybe someone needs this domain badly for their business idea.

If you have good idea on how to use this domain, go for it. If it doesn't work out, seems like you can always sell it ;)

it's a pr5, the link profile is a little weak to keep that (it's lost 90% of it's original links)but with a little effort you would then you have one very good domain, btw OP you have probably just blew the domain wide open (regarding google) if you intended using it as a network site. I doubt anyone on here would touch it now you've put into the open. I pity anyone who buys it and attempts to use it as a network domain.
Would I have paid $260 for it, probably not but it was a good network site if it didn't get mentioned here.

It has a TF of 16, which is a 1.5:1 TF/CF ratio. That is the likely the single biggest reason it's bid so high. Indeed I would have happily paid $300+ for it as a network site, given the awesome stats (though, DA/PA are average).

Nevermind, I found out.

I recently bought a domain with TF/CF 19/11 for root domain and 29/23 for homepage for regular registration price, but it showed no PR. Maybe it will come with next update because it had a few .edu links. So far it has given me a little boost in SERPs.

Not surprised if one poor sap wanted this domain bad enough and some clowns were shilling him, intentionally
running up the price of the domain to line their own pockets. Just speculation though. :)

Probably because of the PR5, which will drop after the next update.
