Hey guys, I am a total noob with SEO, but i got a site going and it's ranking for a couple KW's already. Though I'm on page 7 for the second highest searched KW, but the page that is ranking is the /disclaimer page which states I am an Amazon affiliate.

Ok, you had a good LOL, how do I rank the home page instead?!

Perhaps I am lacking the plugins needed. Any ideas will be appreciated!

Do you have noindex in your meta data? Submitted your sitemap to GSC? Duplicate or spun content?

Hard to say without taking a look at your site. PM me if you'd like me to review what is wrong.

That's pretty weird. I always noindex my archives and disclaimer/privacy policy pages however.

Definitely, make sure your home page has original content if that is what you want to rank. And make it good content obviously. To give the SE a nudge in the right direction use internal links with the keyword you are headhunting as the anchor.

Use yoast plugin to noindex that disclaimer page and other unnecessary pages.

Build quality links mainly to your homepage with a nice portion of brand domain anchor text and your keywords.

Make sure your homepage onpage is optimized as well.

As said, you can use the robots.txt file to remove that page from Google.

Generally, when that happens it's because of keyword placement. Is your full search term found on the homepage of your site?

Okay, you need to do two things.

First, you need to link from your disclaimer page to your main page.

Second, you need to make sure you're building the proper links with the proper context so as to draw more search attention to your main page.

Of course, this is not going to happen overnight, but you just need to keep working at it and things can pan out.
