Why is Google showing my blog's anchor text instead of its title?

I run a blog on blogger, and I use GSA SER and some other services to post articles and links all over the web with mostly the same anchor text. Google showed my blog's title in its rankings first, but now it only shows the anchor text instead of the title. Rankings also increased noticeably. Any idea on what this might be?

Yeah. It happens if Google thinks the anchor terms are more relevant than your title. Does it happen for all keywords or specific?

it gives more weightage to that anchor i guess. doesnt finds ur title suitable.

seems google showing best anchor that relates to search term, i also facing the same with my blog

To counteract this, make sure you're also building links that are specific to your blog, not the keyword you're targeting. For example:

http://www.yoursite.com
yoursite.com
Your Title
Your Homepage Title

etc.

If you do this, G will display your title, but also rank you for the keywords you're looking for.

Also, just having keywords as anchor text isn't natural. At LEAST 30% of your links should be domain / title links if it's a site you are putting a lot of effort into. It might be ranking well now, but if you keep building links that are JUST keywords, down the line Google might see this and penalize you. It's honestly only happened to me once or twice, but those times weren't worth it. Just build more links *overall* to get the same amount of keyword anchor text links that you want.

If it's a churn 'n' burn site... do whatever the hell you want. ;)
