Mods please close this thread.
From their rules page:
(global Rule #11) Advertising (all forms) is also not welcome?this includes any type of referral linking, "offers", soliciting, begging, stream threads, etc.
(/biz/ rule #3) Absolutely no advertising, soliciting, or promotion of any kind. You may not discuss projects you have an interest in without making that disclosure. We will remove anything that remotely breaks this rule.
So yes, there are rules against for profit links and advertising over most of site. This is due to the massive rash of spam bots people had advertising monetized pages. There was a time in which at least 50% of all posts were ad links.
Now posting any sort of paid link tends to get people banned and most users who aren't total newbies know to avoid those links as they're being posted by people who made the chan a HUGE mess. People tried this in recent threads and really didn't make money for their trouble. From a money point of view, it just isn't worth the effort of using a billion proxies to make $5. You're dumping links that are banned on a forum where people post furry porn and dead cats. You can't expect any sort of quality traffic.
There are good places to talk about SEO and marketing type things such as the /biz/ board. I've seen people talking about BHW before, but Biz is a weird board. There's no actual rule that says you can't talk about places like BHW, but people who go on BHW don't tend to to want to share it because they're scared of competition. People can be pretty secretive of anything they feel is a "key to success" in /Biz/. It also is there to cut down on spoonfeeding.
Best post I ever saw on /Biz/
User 1: The Japanese have a word for people who don't do enough research themselves.
User 2: Oh? What is it?
Now, I'm still sort of new here, but I think BHW is censoring the site's name to encourage people to go elsewhere. Think of it as a courtesy to the site. They don't want us mucking thier place up, and so they try to discourage us from even talking about what clearly isn't a good idea. If there was better information on this, please feel free to point me in the right direction, but that's just my two cents.
Afaik because there was problems years ago when ***** methods where talked about here.. The ***** guys didn't like it so started all sorts of spam attacks over here, you can imagine the sort of stuff lol
Because we don't like to associate ourselves with angry 14 year old boys that know everything.
Because back in the day we used to spam them with butterfly marketing revenge scripts.
BHW threads got linked to on /b/ and it got pretty ugly.
Alright I see, mods please delete this thread.
