Believe it or not but only 3 months ago, I didn't even know what SEO stood for. I am in sales and this past winter was harsh financially so I was looking for other ways to provide for my family.

I knew very little about web design or HTML, but I'm a fast learner so I found a Rapidshare forum that listed thousands of web templates from places like template monster. I was going to use the templates to sell web sites then when a site was sold I would buy it from template monster to avoid copywrite issues.

Then once while bidding on a job the client said he wanted SEO. I was like WTF is that? So I did a G search and found BHW. Been here ever since.

I have had a few small successes with the methods I found in here but just the other day and today were the big payoffs.

I was bidding on a job and once again the client said he wanted SEO. I said "Sure thing. My team and I specialize in SEO and I'll prove it" I told him to do a G search for "Best SEO in *my state*" (I had already done my homework on this... only 8 results for that exact keyphrase in quotes.)

He did the search while on the phone with me and said "I don't see you"

I said "I know, I haven't done anything yet. Give me 48 hours then do the exact same search."

Keep in mind he was doing to seach without "quotes" so his results were in the hundred thousands. So 48 hours later he did the search, Called me immediately and said "your hired"

His business was in the massage industry so I was able to keep his SEO geo-targeted and easy enough that today he found his 2 week old site on the front page of google and was so happy he gave me a $500 bonus on top of the $2k I already charged him.

I can't thank everyone that I have learned from (too many names) But I will thank anyone and everyone who has shared useful information. And to express my gratitude I have just donated to BHW. I'm sure this isn't the last money I've made from the information here. I'll be around for awhile.

I'm not gonna lie. My experience in sales hasn't hurt the process at all. BHW helped me provide results, but you gotta get the job before you can show the results.

Well in the actual web dev side, I used Joomla 1.5 which has some great features. I also have a few SEO extensions and a sitemap generator. I also talked him into having a blog and explained the benifits of web 2.0. Each page of his site was optimized for about 5 different but similar keywords, in both the articles, the descriptions, the meta data and the page title.

I also made sure to put the more important keywords in header tags even if thay weren't headers. This also made for some artistic typography, but that was just a bonus.

I had him write a couple of articles for his blog then optimized them for keywords as well. (told him I would be editing so he was cool with it)

Once the site went live I bookmarked it with no more than 5 social bookmarks both days. Submitted his blog to a couple of rss feeds and pinged.

Since he was in the therapeutic massage industry I commented with a link in two relevant blogs.

That's about it. Keep in mind that since this was a local business I kept it all geo targeted which made things alot easier.

Congratz man, it's great hearing sucess stories.

Keep it up. You now know you can create an income from home, no matter what. You lose your house and family, you can go to the library, get some online work, get paid and start over again.

You can create money from almost nothing, it's a great feeling isn't it!

    Here's to continued sucess!

    Hi Eventus.

Great job, i loved the "the client said he wanted SEO. I was like WTF is that?" part :D

Put a ad in the locals for your service and put some flyers at your local chambers of commerce. Im sure you will get some more out of it.

Thanks! That's a really nice thing to say.:D
Yeah that would be great, but I just looked when you mentioned it, My posts were at 23 this morning before I even posted this... do post counts get stuck?

I had a similar idea. I mentioned my day job was sales... I sell in the remodeling industry so I'm familiar with the marketing and needs for the industry.

My plan is to collect all the fax numbers of all the other businesses, we are talking windows, roofing, painting, driveways, etc. mass fax them all with a short sales letter that basically says,

"Get your website on the front page of google. increase your leads without increasing your budget. I will not compete with myself so first come first serve. Only one client per industry."

That should give them a sense of urgency. :)
