Why I Cringe When I See "Publish Your App In The Play Store for $5" on SEO Clerks, Fiverr, Etc.

    BREAKING NEWS:

If they're letting you publish on their developer account, they're almost certainly NOT checking for quality/compliance with policy, and they're probably not limiting the amount of people they extend this to, meaning if 1000 people with $5 rush their way, they will gladly publish 1000 apps without ever even looking at one of them first.

    A) If this is the case, they are at high risk of at least one (if not many) of those apps violating policy and getting their entire developer account banned - meaning your app would have a very short shelf life on GooglePlay

    B) Anyone who engages in the above (or would entertain $5 for this!) does not have much respect for their account, and there's no telling if (or how many/severe) account issues they've had in the past.

ASO is the GooglePlay version of SEO....and it is HUGELY impacted by the developer account it's associated with - and the other apps (PAST and present) associated with that account - think of them as similar to "backlinks"...

You DO NOT want to be in a "bad neighborhood"...Developers like that are the equivalent of link farms... If they've had apps removed for policy violations, adult content, copyright, spam/malware, deceptive marketing, etc - your rankings will suffer as well by virtue of having been published under that same developer account. If They let some spammer post a ton of crap apps for $5 each down the road on the same account that they published yours on, as soon as Google Sees it (they're fast) BAM your app is either invisible or completely deleted from the play store along with them...

Also, if they're a new developer, they wont have as much authority/weight either

    In Contrast:

I, For lack of a better example, have chosen to go the route of creating and cultivating my OWN developer account rather than save $20 in the short term and sacrifice lack of control over or knowledge of any issues and the quality and integrity of the apps published in my account.

My developer account has now been active and in good standing for over 5 years, no violations, no issues, and a couple apps I've published have ended up with over 500000+ Installs.

I have NEVER published for a 3rd party before, and seriously doubt I ever would (certainly never without reviewing the app myself first and checking periodically) and in the unlikely event that I actualy did, I would never "open the floodgates" by extending the favor to more than 1-3 people/apps TOPS - and ONLY after I THOROUGHLY vetted them and was confident in the quality of the apps and that they won't harm my account....I'd have to really trust them and have a history of positive business dealings with them - not just ANYONE with a few bucks!

There's a WORLD of difference between the results of publishing to the two above examples of developer's accounts:

Asking me "what's the difference between publishing on your developer account vs theirs" today is on par with saying "why would I bother getting that backlink from the Huffington Post in that amazing article that everyone's gonna see, when I can get a link easier from that crappy Russian forum with NO traffic DA 1 and PA 0"

And NO this is NOT self-promotion because I do not and am not planning on selling that service - this is intended to illustrate why those services are a bad idea and why it's better to get your OWN GooglePlay Developer Account (it's really not hard)

I didn't know that was even a thing. Ignore my ignorance but why don't people get developer accounts for themselves? Is it for specific people only?

I agree wholeheartedly - various reasons, but the most common 3 are:

    A) They're lazy - don't want to take the very short amount of time it takes to learn how to do that, so it's easier to throw $5 at someone

    B) They're cheap - they think they're doing something smart by getting someone to do this for them for $5 instead of paying $25 for a developers account if they only see themselves publishing that one app (because they can't see the big picture risks/disadvantages for what they are)

    C) They've been banned several times, and it's easier/cheaper to spam that way for them than it is to get new proxys, new mailing address, new credit card that hasn't been associated with a google account and (depending on how badly they've offended ergo how closely Google is watching for them) an entirely new computer/device to publish from - with a virgin pva google account lol

Lol but i still think they are not wise enough how about if they wanted to publish more apps then it means they gotta pay more, may be more than the Google Play Developer fee:p
