    Hello Everyone,

So as the title to the thread says " Why Google? " I mean with all due respect we talk so much about Google.
And so many people are suffering because of Penguin and Panda. Alright what if we focused on...

    Bing
    Yahoo
    Baidu
    ect ect...

I know their not as large as Google but who cares how large they are when they seem to not update their algorithms
so much and crush small Internet Marketers. I by no means am claiming to be a "SEO Guru" But please lets discuss why
we do not diversify our topics away from Google some?

    Looking forward to the conversation.

We can't just earn by ranking at random palaces. The point is ranking at right palace-where people come and check them. (Like if you a banner at your home it is of no use, and if same banner is at highway side, ,it will fulfill its destiny)
The world use Google-random people Google things. When people will start going to yahoo, bing or anywhere else, Google will be of no-use.

Bing, Yahoo and especially Baidu are not random places. Matter of fact in some areas their more widely known than
    Google.

    Because:

    http://blog.compete.com/2012/08/15/july-2012-us-search-market-share-report-bing-grows-google-down-aol-and-yahoo-remain-flat/

    Some other references:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_search_engine#Market_share

    http://www.karmasnack.com/about/search-engine-market-share/

Apart from the report by compete.com,which says google got 67% of search traffic, all other links claim google to get more than 80% of the search traffic.

Hope that answers the question, "Why google?"

I'm not so sure its so easy to specifically target Bing, Yahoo etc as the rules of engagement are basically the same.

From how I understand it, if you target Google you also target Bing and Yahoo by default

Because Google has a huge market share.. doh...

The other search engines get very little traffic for queries that it's not worth it.

Why do you think Penguin decimated so many sites? Because they were reliant on Google for traffic. Strip that away and theres not a lot left. Even the Digg, StumbleUpon and Twitter fans have got to admit that

All others have just tiny portion of the market if we talk about western culture. Baidu yes, but in China.

Google is king, you get more traffic from being ranked #1 for a keyword in Google than in any other search engine.

I remember reading this blog by Dave Kelly. It stated that :

"Why Should You Be Concerned with Bing"

Everyone wants Google traffic right? Sure they do, and I?m no different. But we
all know exactly how difficult it can be for even the best SEO professionals to get
sites ranked high in Google. And just when you get your site ranked in Google,
you suffer through another one of their frequent updates and poof, your site is
nowhere to be found. Google is great . . . IF . . . you can get your site to stick at
or near the top. But you know what's going to happen don't you? Just when you
think you've got Panda or whatever they call their next big update figured out, it's
    going to change.
A lot of time, money and energy are spent trying to achieve those top rankings.
But what would you say if I told you there is a much easier way to really jump
start your traffic, and make a LOT of money doing it?
Let me ask you a simple question. If you were going to pick a fight with
someone, would you decide to take on the heavyweight champ where you are
more likely than not, going to lose, or would you prefer to fight the 97-pound
weakling, where you can win almost every time?
While everyone else is focused on, and obsessed with Google, there are a select
handful of people who are bringing in tens of thousands of unique, highly
targeted visitors per month from Bing, and I am one of them.
Oh, and don't forget, as of me writing this, Bing also feeds Yahoo, so a search on
Yahoo is going to give you the same results you see on Bing. Combined they
probably don't equal half of Google's market share, but we're still talking in the
range of 30% market share and over 4 BILLION searches per month and that
equals a LOT of potential visitors each and every day.
If you think that isn't enough to deliver any kind of serious traffic to your business,
    think again.
Those who understand this are making serious money from Bing and Yahoo.
And they are doing it in a way that is a lot easier than what most people are
trying to do. Here's the problem with most people's thought process --
If you had a choice between a top ranking in Google (which for the sake of this
discussion would bring you 10,000 visitors) or a top ranking in Bing (which for the
sake of this discussion would bring you 1000 visitors) which would you choose?
No brainer right? Everyone would choose the top ranking in Google.
What if you had to choose between a #4 ranking in Google (which would bring
you say, 2500 visitors) and and a #1 ranking in Bing (which would bring you 1000
visitors)? Of course you'd still take Google.
But here's the reality. It doesn't work that way, because it's a WHOLE LOT easier
to obtain and . . . MAINTAIN, a top ranking in Bing. And MAINTAINING a top
ranking is critical. You can love Bing or hate them, but the reality is their SERPS
are FAR more stable than Google. If you get a good ranking, it's quite possible
that you can remain at or near the top for a very extended period of time.

If i remember, then google gets 70%-80% of all searches made, rest goes to bing, yahoo , and other search engines.

SO basically , if you get 100k keyword, 20k-30k goes for other search engine, which isnt that bad at all. and if you rank there, you can be sure that it will stay there ;)

If I did ranked in Bing at some time I've got only around 200 clicks in a few weeks, well sure this depends on the keyword, but hey I can't pull traffic from the other SE like it comes from G, even if now is 3x times lower due to shitty updates.

Anyways I can't wait to get rid of G completely in one way or another.

My experience is that Bing/Yahoo traffic is just as good as Google traffic but it tends to be 1/4 of what Google brings which is about what you would expect based on marketshare.

My question, what exactly do your have to do differently to 'target' Bing?

Mainly because normally once you get a high rank in Google the other search engines will give you relatively the same rank....so why try to rank in 3 other search engines when you should focus on one?
