why google treat wp pages different than posts?

They're both content, but seems like google tends to rank pages better than posts, thoughts?

I noticed it too for a site. Don't have post but only pages

The problem with posts is the metadata that Pages don't have. Depending on what you are trying to rank metadata can telegraph something wrong (for example date-created and date-modified metadata that page don't exhibit)

For example, if you are writing a cooking recipe it doesn't make any sense to write a post, although many blogs do, like if their recipes were their "latest news" instead of SILOing a right web hierarchical web structure that leads to each single dish categorized by certain aspect of it.

Obviously, a blog with post recipes and a SILOed page with perfect hierarchy will lead to better ranks for the latter.

It's not the page/post dichotomy by itself, but the way WP organizes the information. One must understand the differences between pages and post.

Personally, when I teach my students about SEO, I always talk about pages and posts, explain who posts could be great, but how pages could be even greater specially for niche-like sites and microsites.

So is you are depended on posts because of theme structure is there a way to rewrite the meta data so that posts are handles like pages by google?

google does not knows:

example.com/is-a-post/ OR example.com/is-a-page/

You can add Pillar page to Posts. For example:

Recipes
- Breakfast Recipes
-- Egg Omelette Recipes
--- Thanksgiving Omelette Recipe

Pages are more generalized
URL structure is totally predictable which changes for each post

Google doesn't know if it's a page or a post. If you see ranking differences:
Investigate the differences of your wp theme's page (file like pages.php) and post (file like single.php).

I assume the most important factor is interlinking.

maybe your pages are irrelevant for the theme and topicality of your website's posts?

generally a site earns authority for its topical theme perceived expertise

  • Pages are mostly static 99% of the time.
  • Posts are mostly chronological 99% of the time unless you feature or stick them to the top of your blog or homepage.
  • It makes sense in Google's eye to rank pages higher and create sitelinks off them especially if your business is a legal entity.
  • Google doesn't exactly know the difference. It rather takes meta data and site structure as cues.
  • Pages are mostly siloed. Post are not.
  • Pages tell more about the business and well organized in a concise manner. Posts talk about different things. Not necessarily about the business.
  • Posts are often internal-linked to from many posts.
  • They carry the authority for the same reason that they've earned link juice internally.
  • Having crawled gazillions of pages, their AI can already tell the difference within 0.1 sec of spiders visiting your site.

When pages are in general better for a good seo ranking, I understand to create a page and category page in wordpress, but not understand, how have a category page with a list of pages (like the default blog post archive in wp), not know how to build this in wp.

Build a list of pages in a category page instead of showing a list of posts ? In wp default is that pages have child pages, so they are not showing as list , they showing up as dropdown menu. When that makes sense in term of seo ranking to make a difference between pages and posts.

Do you experienced ever this?

If yes could you please share the both URLs of the page and post?

It will be helpful to analyze more about your question.
