The poker Champ Heinz just won $8.7 million and because of the tax treaty between the U.S. and Germany he doesn't have to pay taxes to the U.S. And Germany doesn't tax earnings from gambling

Why would you gamble with 8.7 million dollars?

    *facepalm*

It was a poker tournament,it means he put up maybe $50,000 at the start and it goes through all the rounds, and the winner takes most of the winnings at the end, with runner ups wining a little as well. No one would play poker as a professional if they had to put up that much to play.

It was the main event ($10,000 buy-in).

Couldn't he become a resident of Germany? And then be exempt from Denmark income taxes,or is Denmark like the U.S. and makes its citizens pay taxes on all income no matter where it was earned and where they live?

@brainstorming I was just using $50,000 as an example, since I know that its pretty low to enter the tournament, but didn't realize it was only as low as $10,000.
