It used to be that entrepreneurs were the renegade cowboys out in Silicon Valley. Nowadays, you have to be an entrepreneur just to get and hold a job.
Consultants and freelancers are cheaper than full-time staffers with benefits, software developers overseas cost a fraction of what they cost in the U.S. and, by 2030, robots will be able to perform most manual labor, according to an infographic (below) from San Francisco-based startup organization Funders and Founders. Even employees who are employed in large corporations are encouraged to be ?intrapreneurs,? meaning that they are in many cases given company time to come up with disruptive ways of thinking about corporate organization and practices.

No matter what your office looks like, you are going to have to become an entrepreneur. Take a look at the infographic to understand why.

Is anyone else kind of worried for the coming massive unemployment of blue and white collar workers well on its way?

So many people mess around at work too. The office work week could be 20 hours and 4 days and the productivity would be the same. These people that slack off at work choose to do so instead of investing in themselves. If they can't appreciate a cushy job where their stress comes from inter-office politics and annoying coworkers, what choice do they have competing with one another outside of the confines of their place of employment?

The reason there aren't more entrepreneurs today is a lack of ability, dedication, ambition, drive, assets and discipline, and probably a lot more all things considered.

People are totally ok with going to work to just collect a paycheck. If the world changes where they will have to actually "work," it will either create a huge change for the better, or will be met with so much resistance it will be a nightmare. It isn't true that people would rather not work if leisure presents itself, but it is true that people do not like to toil and most healthy people can't stand tedium. If they are given the ability to do what they want creatively, excitingly, altruistically, they will always choose to work rather than lay around doing nothing(unless they have a clinical problem). It takes work to have even have real fun(outdoors activities, throwing a party, etc), and laying around makes you feel like you're wasting away if you have the material assets, know-how, and physical access to go do something. The transition from what we have to being able to unleash people's creativity in this way is either going to be smooth, or it might never happen.

I'm legitimately worried and have been leaning towards pessimism with only blind faith(ignorance and hope, really) keeping me a believer that things won't just collapse.

I really hope everyone doesn't turn into an entrepreneur. That would make things a lot more difficult for you guys and I. I don't think that will ever happen because unfortunately most people don't have the drive within themselves. There are people everywhere now that could have a job if they really wanted it. They just don't have the drive and had rather live off of social services. Many people will choose the easy path vs the hard. Being an entrepreneur is definitely not an easy road to follow.

Actually I find dealing with Entrepreneurs is faster, smoother and more profitable than dealing with other people.

The Business mentality of an Entrepreneur makes things so much easier.

The more Entrepreneurs around, mean more business, more money for everybody.

Here in Brazil we have a term for those kinds of jobs: ASPONE

Assessor de porra nenhuma (Advisor of fucking anything)

And I dread those people, and do everything within my means to keep then away from me. Those people usually have a very defined lifepath
    -Do well in elementary school
    -Do well in middle school
-Do well in ENEM (national middle school exam, if you do well you get a hefty scholarship)
    -Do post graduation
    -Do doctorate
-Do a MBA (no fucking clue what the hell this shit is)

And then, after 20 and something years, you can start looking for a entry level job.

Not having benefits and a union looks good afterall doesn't it?

And I know this is not only in Brazil, even craigslist jobs are asking for a 4 year bachelor those days. Of course, regular jobs will always exist because some people just can't handle a life where you are obligated do be productive everyday.

And we will always have to handle those people (those that waste 20 years studying for something they aren't even sure they like), iluding themselves that they made a good choice.

I'm not hating on college or anything, but be realistic, and don't waste your time on a job that won't produce something for you.
