why even bother with blog commenting?

There is another program out there called Blog Commenter (with a free Lite version) by the maker of Blog Link Generator (hxxp://blo*glinkgen*erator.com). One plus to this program is that it says it will automate the ping process after your comment so your link will be picked up faster. Don't know if the others do this. I have downloaded the free Lite version and am going to try it out.

So to recap (and add from other threads on this), the possible programs for blog commenting are:
FREE
Comment Kahuna

PAID (some have free Lite versions)
Blog Commenter
Comment Hut
Feed Blog Finder
BlogCommentDemon
CommentSniper

Any more programs that tackle this? Any more votes for the best program?

Nice list, i will try this softwares now :)

I use G-lock Blog Finder free edition.
It identifies the no-follow tags and also the pr.
It is a little limited though.
Only 50 results at 1 time but thats works ok for me.

DAMINK

i read an interesting article today, but i forgot where :P about the effect of the no follow tag in comments. it seems that as the poster you gain maybe visitors from people reading your comments, but as the blog owner it seems to help improve your rank in the SERP's, so i am going to try a different tactic and encourage people to post their comments on my blog and see what happens.

ok so recently I got the full version of comment hut and have been searching and commenting like crazy.

but I follow all the guidelines, I leave comments after reading the post and make good contributions to my comment and then leave a link to my site in the end.

but recently i also found out about the nofollow tag, and after searching found out that all the blogs, including wordpress and wrodpress.com have nofollow turned on by default.. they automatically add the nofollow tag to all links

and the nofollow kills us webmasters.. :( a it asks the search engines to completely ignore this link or just skip it...

so what am I supposed to do now for SEO?

does anyone else have any alternatives

just a thought, as i was not doing this at first. Are you pinging the page you left your comments? some are old and may not be getting much bot action

that a good point- i wonder if i should have been pinging- do you just add url to google? does this really matter?

If you click the link, you get the following message

'Unfortunately we were unable to find the product you specified. If you'd like to search for the product by name or description simply type in some keywords below.' - The site owner does not seem to be aware of it.

The owner is on dp somewhere...perhaps can shoot him a pm....I forget his name there tho....eh but can look later...

try using commentkahunna, it search for PR and blog that have "do-follow"

I have used both commentkahunna and the fast blog finder and i like fast blog finder the best. it's easier to use and it's more reliable in finding blogs that i can comment on imo. No one could know the upgraded version would not be accessible as it is being reported as being now else ida paid for the upgrade when it first came out.

I just downloaded BlogCommentDemon for that exact reason, $47, from the same guy who developed BookMarkingDemon.

It comes with a separate "NoFollow" script to weed out the bum blogs and will let you source by PR rank and 11 different blog engines.

I'll test it out and see if I can get some decent links from it.

would love to see how this one works for you. I never heard of it...i think.

Another avenue is to search for blogs with the CommentLuv plugin or an even newer KeywordLuv plugin.

The CommentLuv plugin will add a link to the title of the your last post to the bottom of your comment. Some are ******** and some are NoFollow, but you have a much higher chance of getting real traffic from your post title than just your url. Be sure to read the comment policy if there is one, because a lot of these blogs don't like using keyword in your user name and will block your comments for doing that.

KeywordLuv is a new spin on this that allows you to enter your name and the your desired keywords for the anchor text to your link. I've only found a few of these so far.

Thanks for the advice about fast blog finder. I picked up the free version to check it out and it works perfectly. I'm even tempted to pay for the gold version, as it found 48 relevent blogs based on the keywords I used. Only two were not relevent, but had a variation of my keywords. I'd call that a success.
