Why it is ranking? Because its a niche shop with lots of products, categories etc. all for the same niche.
Another important fact is he is doing internal linking from his blog directly to his categories and products, for example here:

and by the way: I don't he need backlinks necessarily. Google changed in the way you only need proper on-page SEO to rank for some terms. You won't outrank Amazon etc. tho.

Their on Page SEO seems pretty decent and seems like they know what they are targetting its a complete niche targeted site.
Their blog Content and URL structure is completely targeted.

There is nothing to surprise that they are ranking for some longtail keywords
