    Hi

Was just wondering if this happens to any of you guys.

I've been linking building for a few weeks on my site. The site has experienced a good jump in results however the page that shows highest and the one that has improved on google is the inner page, and not the actual page i've been working on!

Google likes ranking inner pages rather than the index page of the domain.
Exceptions to this appear to be when the domain name = the target keywords.
In my experience, when I have kw1kw2kw3.com that will rank for kw1 kw2 kw3 searches - if I have a subpage off that main page with kw1 kw2 targetted - then google will often give me an indented page aswell, with the second page indented beneath the index page.

I think it all depends on whats on the pages which link to your "worked on" page which is making them rank. Often google ranks a page just for linking to a page which contains the target words.

    Hope that makes some sense.
    Cheers

Either you didn't do a good job on linking to your homepage on every page of your site (interlinking) or your homepage was penalized by Google. I had the same problem about a year ago with one of my sites, and interlinking all of my pages fixed the problem.
