Why does my admin backend show up in the serps?

    If i do a search query Site:www.mydomain.com my backend admin pages show in the results. Extensions like wp-admin/admin-ajax.php. When I click the link its just a blank page with "-1" in the top right hand corner.

    then when I use SEOquake on my own site just to check internal links i see all types of backend admin pages like:


    wp-admin/links
    wp-admin/post-new
    wp-admin/user-new

    its like 2 dozen that show up in SEOquake...what gives?



    Why are these backend pages showing up & how do I hide them from the serps & from showing up in SEOquake?

    Use robot.txt and disallow those pages.

    Add the following to your robots.txt in your root web folder. If you don't have one create it in notepad.

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /wp-admin/

    I just searched ALL files & couldnt find robots.txt in my root folder?

    what should I do?

    Just install this plugin from wordpress.org and you will have a robot.txt for editing
