Lately on every gmail account I open, Google want my phone number to sms me.
What am I doing wrong?
its a new layer of security to supposidly stop spammers from using gmail. from what ive experimented with is that at some times the sms verification can be triggered based on the content you input on the registration page (google may pick it up as phony right off the bat), or the rate which you enter the information.
im sure someone can give you a more analyzed explanation, but its basically just random; clear your cookies, dont use the same IP for more than 5, general things like that and it wont ask you for sms verification.
I get the sms verification in my second try I'll try using proxies for each account, I'll post an update if it makes a difference.
Probably some goggle engineer wants your mobile number to hook you up
J/k its security, the same Facebook, and some other networks use. You can't own so many phone numbers as you own different email addresses.
sucks for people who can't afford to have a cell phone, this means their not allowed the privilege to use googles gmail client as a service. I know people right now 18+ who cant afford a phone, part of this reason,no jobs for them are available.
well, 3 days back i was creating a new account and just after i hiting the submit form button i was expecting the welcome screen that would be taking me to the inbox but instead received "sms verification" page....i cancelled that i thought of not creating the account....but all of my other accounts are working fine and were never asked for verification....so may be it's for the "emails created to be" and not for the existing ones.....but who knows the G b*tch....
as precaution, i have started using different IPs while using gm@il accounts.
even for new youtube accnt creation, they are asking phone numbr.
For phone sex
They are trying to save themselves from being raped by Spammers..
Dude, this has been going on for months now and has been the subject of a number of posts. Use the the search button next time.
No, Google asks for phone # every time now.
@OP: You didn't do anything wrong.
No it doesn't, I just made 3 today, got verification on the 4th though. I think it helps if you're using real names.
Well they can fill in that support request. And then not get any answer whatsoever.
That's strange I am always using names and get asked for phone # every time. Maybe you have to switch IP address after all.
I will supress the urge to yell at you like crazy. Of course you have to switch the IP. And clean the flash cookies and probably a whole bunch of other things I just make a new firefox profile just to be sure. I think they also check if you have a reasonable security answer, maybe it's just me.
They're not just gonna slap the PV on everyone, that would be the death of them.
I made 4 new accounts without sms verification..lucky me
they want your number to call you and yell at you if you spam
Its actually quite common now for sms verification from google nothing to be really worried about.
Yea, freaked me out recently too. If your worried, just use Yahoo instead.
flash cookies. get rid of em. and that'll do the trick
there is too many scam join GMAIL, so they asking you phone .
Separate names with a comma.
