Why does engagement drop when accounts grow larger?

    1. Is it due to psychologic effects like people not being as willing to engage in larger accounts?

    2. or is it due to some kind of IG algorithm making the photos show less?

    It depends on how comfortable the followers feel with the account

    ive noticed this on facebook on some pages as well. Yet other pages remain steady.
    I would suggest this is due to an algorithm shift or something. try posting more engaging stuff? :D

    I guess it's because when your accounts get bigger, there is a big chance for bot to follows you. Also the number 2 is might be the reason you get a fewer exposure from your followers, that's why a few months ago, many big accounts ask everyone to turn on the notifications so we all can still see them.
