I read that for SEO, it is good to shorten links twice.

IE: web 2.0 -> shorten to bit.ly -> bit.ly shorten to tinyurl etc etc

    1) Is there a reason why? Couldn't I blast GSA to the Bit.ly links?

    2) Is there any service that allows me to shorten my bit.ly links again in bulk? Tried looking for 1 hour and all that I could find are non bulk link shorterners for my bit.ly links

    1. You could. The theory behind shortening twice is that it provides extra protection. If a domain / url is penalized and then redirected to a new url, the penalty will usually be passed to this new url as well. With two layers of redirects, people believe it's less likely than any penalty will be passed along. Services like bit.ly will sometimes take down a link that's been heavily spammed, so the second layer of shorteners allows you to spread the links out over a bunch of urls and reduce this risk too.

You should test both methods (shorten once, shorten twice) on sites you don't care about and see what happens.

    2. I'm not aware of anything free. GSA SER can do it, GSA makes a product for redirects that can do it (Redirect Pro or something?), there's software sold here called 301 Nuke, and Scrapebox has a bulk shortener feature.

[h=2]A Dolla' and a Dream is a good guide for you. you can add 301 redirect pro to automate it.

In case the bit.ly link you spam gets deleted, you still have other bit.ly links pointing to the first tier 1 bit.ly

Its just for added protection as well as to utilize the link juice of each property.
