if essentially you want someone to goto your affiliate site and sign up.

for example, if i am a partner for vacuum cleaners. i purchase a domain name such as theworldsbestvacuum

why build a website with links to the affiliate sign up page when you can just have your website redirect to your affiliate

and if you choose, mask the url so they still think they are on theworldsbestvacuum

and then promote the heck out of your site without actually having a site.
i'm new to all this, this is why i am asking, so legit answers are greatly appreciated and really would like some incite.

    thanks everyone!

What youre talking about is cloaking, and its really powerful if done right. However youll need a good script, and learn the basics of SEO. But Cloaking is reallyyy powerful.

why? i think godaddy lets you register a domain name and all you do is click on some option that says redirect and mask, and you type in the link you want it redirected to and boom you're done.

There are a few reasons to build your own site.

One way you could use your own site would be to build an email list and then promote an affiliate product to that email list, and other products over time. This way you could make money over time and for the rest of your life off of that email list rather than just getting your one time payment from your affiliate.

Another reason to have a site is because most visitors aren't ready to go straight to a sales page and buy a product. You have to educate them a little first, and warm them up to the idea and then send them to a sales page. They are much more likely to buy this way.

Would you rather send 1000 people to an affiliate offer and 1 of them buys?

Or would you rather send 1000 people to your site, then 100 people to your affiliate offer, but 5 of them buy?

    That is the difference.
