Why do we never see any old fashioned link networks now?

    Back in the 90s at the bottom of every webpage was a code where you linked into a similar niche as your own, and you would click previous next or random to go to a similar website as your own. Much better than using search engines.

    What happened to these?

    i have never hear of it... Guess I am too young...

    What likely happened was Google bought them out, and killed them.

    OMG i remember those. They were called link rings if i remember correctly. I think they are against Google's policy now.

    you'd be referring to webrings - I remember them cos I'm an old fart. Most of the guys here weren't even born then!
