Why Do Some Writers Charge So Little..

But, where it comes to articles... First off, I'm not a professional writer, but if you can maybe take an article about a popular subject and basically give it away, with the understanding that this is an example of what you can do, so make it good.

Then, offer your other stuff to recurring clients with a guarantee of quality, but at a livable wage...

Basically, do what others aren't doing. Under promise and over deliver, then build relationships with your clients based on that...

I would rather pay $10 to make $1,000 than pay $1 to loose $10... Which is exactly what can happen if you don't have good copy on your site... Sell the $1000 dollars to your clients...

If 'Cheap price = Cheap quality' was true, then how come customers continue to buy from the same set of vendors (Indians and non). Note that most service marketplaces such as freelance.com have well established review processes. So clearly there is no way vendors can get away delivering poor quality articles. One would expect given poor quality, buying would stop at some point which is not really the case you can tell.

I think quality or the perception of it has more to do with what a customer wants than 'standards of writing'.

Or with what buyers have come to expect for a certain price. I know if I pay $4 for an article it'll pass article directories standards, but won't be nearly good enough to post on one of my sites. The key is understanding that you will get exactly what you pay for.

It is a two way street though - some writers are far too overpriced for the quality they deliver. When I find a writer who charges a fair price for quality content I hold on to them, because it's a rare combination.
