I keep seeing that people are wanting to gain real-like or flat-out FAKE followers on Twitter, and I just don't understand the logic behind it. Can someone -- anyone, please shine a light on this "strategy" for me, so that I may become more aware of the "why" behind this?

    I just don't get it.

It builds an appearance if you have a new company or authority site. In my opinion, if I see a large site or company that has very few followers they lose credibility and authority in my eyes.

Mostly as an influence kinda thing. Heard the saying "the rich get richer"? It's the same with Twitter followers. Plus you can sell tweets on fiverr to unsuspecting noobs much more easily if you have a trillion Twitter followers.

Wow. So there's no real value, aside from what can be accomplished from fooling people?
That's kinda lame, but I appreciate the info. Thanks guys.

Yep that's basically it. There's no real benefit as regards to directly making money but if you look like you dominate the market and you have a good reputation you could experience an increase in sales.

Now what if you have a ton of hot, real-like followers on your account, and these fake accounts of hot women all have between XX - XX,XXX real followers following them, simply because they're hot.. Then what if you can get these fake accounts of hot women to ReTweet your shit for you? There could be some money in that, perhaps, provided you have a solid, enticing CTA with your affiliate link. But how could something like this be accomplished? I'm sure there are already people doing similar things.. It could be worth implementing.

I don't get the hate over fake followers. There's a difference between eggs and real looking profiles of course, but your follower count makes the average person feel more confident in your product. If I have an ecommerce store and I have a couple thousand profiles, it makes people more likely to follow you versus you having 40 real followers.

That's true but I doubt the real-like accounts would get MASS followers as they can't interact with anyone.

I use Fake twitter followers to get good feedback on Fiverr.

"If you leave me good feed back I will tweet your URL to my 200,000+ followers"
BOOM good feedback left every time.;)

    Don't steal my idea's you fiverr Sellers:p

Lol, that's so mean but I'm sure it's common on Fiverr. Wasn't there a recent twitter change that made this technique really difficult though?

Deffinitly true, your more likley to do business with a business that seems to be already established, as opposed to someone new, or with hardly no online presence.

Is your Twitter account more likely to get banned if you have a ton of fake followers?
