Whats the pros of having one compare to a blogger site? I was thinking about getting a website site that's why I'm asking.

Well you don't exactly own your own blogger site, and they will usually have their own advertisements on it, and you also don't usually have the ability to put advertisements where you want them or edit the layout in any way, which destroys your on-site seo as well.

Or am I completely off base and you are talking about creating your own blog site, not under someone else's domain?

Not to mention, They can suspend your account at anytime and not give you access to any of your content or anything :)

    Websites are super cheap anyhow.

Because we are creating assets, or atleast most of us are.

Spending all this time, effort, and money into a site that ISN'T
owned by us would be insane.

As others have mentioned, Blogger/Wordpress could go in and
delete your blog. No questions asked, and no second chances.

Atleast with our own blogs, the worst the could really happen is
the hosting account shuts down our accounts. As long as we have
backups we could be up and running on a new host in a matter of
    hours. Rather than forever.
