Why is it just because some "evidence" that alleges that Lance Armstrong took drugs to help him, Nike has ended the sponsorship of him. If I was sponsoring someone I would not end it after "evidence" produced by a corrupt agency such as the USADA is released.

Because the general population is retarded and doesn't know the difference between alleged and convicted. If Nike sponsors someone who has this serious allegation placed on them, it doesn't make them look good to the general retarded population.

I agree with ja1myn, it's all about marketing and public image.

you cannot be successful w/o drugs in professional sport, this is especially true for cycling
it's the unspoken truth, but until nobody admits it, Nike should do what they need to do to protect the brand

The use of doping in sports dates back over 2300 years with the use of drugs in cycling dating back to the 1800's.

The same reason Tiger Woods lost $23 million in endorsements for cheating on his wife. It's all about perception.

Bad image for him = Bad image reflecting badly on them

    Pretty simple.

I think the evidence is more than alleged.....In fact it is 100% certain than Armstrong is one of the biggest dopers of all time and whats come out so far is just the start. Nike are jumping off that sinking ship as quick as they can.

Except Nike still sells the Tiger Woods Collection. And they even kept the dog killer Michael Vick on their payrolls.

I'd say Nike knows Armstrong did it. Hell.. even I know Armstrong did it.

Yeah, because they are smart enough to know that you can come back from those things. Tiger Woods and Michael Vick made terrible judgement calls in their personal lives, not their professional lives. There is a difference between being a terrible person in your personal life, and being a cheater in the sport you make your living.

I agree though, they know more than we do, and they don't want a damn thing to do with it.

Didn't Nike keep A-Rod on for a while even after he admitted to steroid use? Nike can handle a cheater, but Armstrong is old and retired and won't be making a comeback. Armstrong's doping scandal looks like it runs much deeper than A-Rod's though.

You're right, I think they just waited until their endorsement deal with A-Rod expired. You make a really good point though, Lance clearly has nothing more to offer them

If they felt he could bring in any more income, they'd have kept him. Christ, Kobe (allegedly) raped a girl and they took him back. Why?
    $$$$$$$$$$$$

The bigger question is why did Armstrong just walk away from his own fucking charity?
He's a douche, always was. It's just that it took years for everyone to find out.

And I'm not making any judgement call on his doping use btw.

Now that he stepped down from his charity and lost his Nike sponsorship, I'm wondering if he'll be able to afford that G-IV he flies around on.

He's a douche nozzel but he'll be a sympathetic figure even if they get him on tape injecting his whole team. One of the benefits to getting testicular cancer that spreads to your brain, stomach, and lungs..
