Why did my site get bumped down to the 3-4th page from page 1 so fast?

Ok so here is the situation guys, I had built a forex website and was on the 1st page at one time( a year ago). The traffic now is slightly more now that it was back then, yet, I am losing rank. I have no idea why I went back this much. I have done nothing but add content to my website and not changed anything. I actually had very little backlinks and still my site ranked. I actually have a little more links now than back then. There were some things I was doing and some changes that were made since then but I am not sure if this could be the reason?

What I did in the past but STOPPED recently...

    1. Posted short content to Linkdn, Pinterest, Tumbrl, Livejournal, Blogger, Reddit. (all unique comments for each profile). I only post to Facebook and Twitter

    2. Post on a forum but now that forum banned me because people were attacked to it to much(seriously)

Changes I made to the site recently

I made a Clickbank affiliate page and this page is duplicated but on my own site. I did this because I have multiple affiliate networks that I use, so I need a page for each. Could this have penalized my site a bit?

You're using multiple duplicate affiliate pages on your site? You need to rewrite them in your own words, hire a cheap writer here and fix those pages man.

What about your links, what is the anchor text like? did you build too many exact match anchors?

Furthermore, you need to evaluate the competition, are there new entrants in the market? are you competitors building more links? are they churning out better and longer content?

I got a few writers to write articles and I anchor texted the same keywords but the articles were unique and submitted to different sites. I have only 100 backlinks right now, and most of them are low quality. But I had even less and was still ranked high. Maybe google hates affiliate pages. I was like the 3rd of 4th site on Google with my targetted keyword and quickly I got bumped 20 sites. No sure if all 20 would have gotten stronger within less than a year so obviously there is something I did wrong...

Did you use exact match anchor text for all your links?

1). Post regularly Fresh Content to HIGH PR Social bookmarking sites and Write Blogs and post them to get Effective backlinks.

2). Put fresh contents. Take reference but, do not copy and paste.

3). Highlight your keywords and make them linkable to get more traffic.

4). Post regularly and unique content so that it can be crawl.

5). Compare your site with competitors site and analyse what keywords are used and how much volume of that keywords.Plan according to them.

I used all unique articles with the anchor text "forex signals" on basically all of them because that is my targeted keyword I am trying to rank for. Is that what you mean by exact match anchor text?

Thanks for these tips but aren't the High PR Social bookmarkting sites "nofollow" links?

Bam! There you go, that's the problem. Dude if all your links have the same anchor text then you will get raped right away. You need to play it safe, go with a strategy like this one

lets assume that you keyword is "pink panther cartoon" and your website is: cartoonnetwork.com

    Use:

    1. Exact match: "pink panther cartoon" less than 10% - to be safe under 5% is ideal
    2. LSI "pink panther character" "pink panther movie" "watch pink panther" etc.. maybe 15%
    3. Throw in some long tails 10%
    4. Website Brand anchors: "Cartoon Network" 20 - 30%
    5. Noise keywords: "click here to watch pink panther shows" "watch here" "this is the best site for cartoons" etc.... 10 %
    6. Rest use naked URL www.cartoonnetwork.com , cartoonnetwork.com etc..

If you use all exact match, that will get flagged right away.

This might be a stupid question but do you mean these should be followed within 1 blog entry or within the whole website? I read each blog entry should be at least 500+ words or more for best SEO results, what are your thoughts on this?

Also, all these different ratio % breakdowns - how do you keep track of how much % of LSI link anchor has been done, how much % naked URL has been done and etc? Thank you!

Best way is ti Sign up for an ahrefs trial or purchase a group buy account. Plug in the top 10 - 20 and see the ratios of your competitors and use similar ratios but build better links. You can keep a spread sheet or use ahrefs or any other backlink tool out there to automatically calculate the ratios for you.
