Today I found a keyword on Semrush with $5 CPC and 1000 US search. I was really happy and was thinking to make a niche site with that as it was very low competition. But when I searched the same keyword in Adwords, I was just astonished... it has 0 CPC, though the search result is same. How can it have so big difference? Does CPC on Semrush means something different?

Another thing, Semrush competition shows 75% for the keyword but when I checked with LTP, it's just 19. I searched manually and found it is really very low competition. Then why Semrush is giving so high result?

    Please someone help.

Semrush show the ads competition, meaning the ads density, how many marketers make an offer for these keywords
The PPC is an estimate based on the last 12 months, therefore more the competition is high the better for you

Semrush only has an estimate based on their algorithms. Adwords has far more data than Semrush.

So should I rely on Adword data and drop that keyword?

I haven't used Adwords in a long time. Recently I was fooling around with the KW tool in Adwords and it struck me that they're now filtering "non profitable" keywords. In a few niches where I've made some $ in the past the stuff I used to see there is no longer there, which tells me it's been filtered somehow. Not sure if I'm using the thing correctly but it seems to me like you should take the average between Semrush and Adwords.

I just mentioned that Adwords has more data than Semrush, but you should not trust a single source ever in this business. Especially with link trackers and kw statistics, each of those tools has their own data set and their own "opinions".

The estimates Google gives are usually off as well. I start at roughly 70% of the estimated first page bid and then increase little by little until I get play. But thats just the beginning. If you don't get your score dialed in good you're always gonna pay shit high prices and never profit. First get some play, then figure out which keywords are valuable to you, then optimize for those keywords, gain quality score, then optimize your bids. Its a long process mate and unless you read a shit load of books and follow their advanced tactics you have little chance of ever scraping a dime.

I am still confused... whether to go with this keyword or not.
I sent mail to Semrush team with this issue. Hope to get reply from them soon.
