wpmu installs no different than regular wordpress with the exception you need to have wildcard dns set up prior to installation if you plan to use sub domains. There are only five fields on the installation form to fill out. I have done dozens at a time. Have a text file made up in advance with the five pieces of information so you can just copy/paste/submit - move on to the next one. Then go back and tweak them all.

ok, you are probably trying to set-up using 3rd level domains without wildcard DNS on. Try without using 3rd level and it should be fine. It is really no different to normal install of WP.

    Alex Brook,
Thanks so much for your offer, I did get
it set up from another person. I think what I did was
trying to install it on an addon domain. I guess
    you can't do that.....

Sure you can, the addon domain just needs wildcard dns applied to it

you have to check the directory creation not the subdomain creation, i think that is your problem

I guess, shimi wanted to say:

you have two possibilites, install wordpress mu like

    subdomain1.mydomain.com, subdomain2.mydomain.com..., etc OR
    mydomain.com/directory1, mydomain.com/directory2...

The subdomain approach makes in general more sense.

What you have to do for it: get wildcard subdomains so that arbitrary subdomains point to your main-domain. Not all registrars/hosters allow that.
