Why can't I get my site to show up on the local 7 pack?

-I've built 100s of citations. I beat out my competitors in terms of quantity and quality with citations. They are all consistent.
-My website is fully optimized. I add articles with relevant keywords every other day.
-I have my name, address, and phone number on my header and footer of every page
-I spread about 20 reviews around different websites
-Added meta geo tags to my website
    -Added KML file
-Link to my Google Places page from my website (heard this helps)
    -My page rank is 2
-Have every social media page and Google+ page linked to my Google Places account

I don't know what else to do. I show up on first page for organic results, but I can't show up in the first 7 local results. Can anyone give me some advice?

Why don't you try 2-tier pyramid backlinking?

What do you mean by this?

How relevant are backlinks when it comes to getting local results?

I might be wrong about this, but if you are already on the first page (organic), then you probably wouldn't appear in the local 7-pack as well UNLESS it is a different URL

ie: if mydomain.c*m is ranking first page organicly, then the only way to show up in local 7 pack as well as by using mydomain.c*m/keyword

Not sure how you optimized your Google+Local page, but make sure the keywords and stuff are there, of course.

P.S: I used * instead of the "o" because BHW restricted me to post URL due to post count. You get the idea anyways.

This is my personal experience. IF YOU are IN PACK 7 FOR LOCAL then you wont show in organic until its different domain. Sometime local hurts also like this situation. I was in similar situation where I was in local but at 6th position, it was no use to me. So I removed local listing from google and let my website come top in organic and now its above local.

That was exactly my thought as mentioned above, but i guess OP doesn't quite experience that. Maybe it is different for every query / location?

I definitely saw it in the past. But I'm looking now for the same keyword and I don't see it anymore, so maybe you are right.

I've read a scenario where this guy was on the first page organically for a keyword and wasn't getting any conversions. Then he showed up in the 7 pack and got crazy business. This makes me think the 7 pack is more important than organic listings. What also sucks is sometimes google shows the 7 pack first and my #1 organic result goes underneath the 7 pack. Not sure what to do...

From my experience, i think the 7-pack + lots of reviews really drive the conversion sky-high. It's a very powerful technique and not only it shows higher than organic search result sometimes, but it also shows on google maps as well. I believe "places+local" result is the future of SEO for small businesses.

I have a customer who was in top two or three organic and wanted me to get him in Local. I did what was required and bingo, he's in local but no longer in organic. He's happy though as he gets far more enquiries now.

Not sure why you can't get in local - I sometimes think there are glitches.
Is your physical address the same town/city as your search ? How central is it in the locality? What business name are you using? There can be issues over whether the info you have listed is too keyword rich or not rich enough.

How long has it been since you've applied for your Google + listing?

I lost my organic page 1 listing as soon as I appear in the 7 pack. Although, you may be able to get both if you point your Google + to a sub page.

Not sure about recent changes, but back when I was trying to get into the 7 pack changes came very slow.

I'm doing a campaign where i have equal emphasis on domain ranking and 7pack local ranking. equal amount of citations and classic keyword ranking techniques. on several of my keywords i am in the 7pack AND organic search. Around 4th position on each. It can be done, you need to keep your citation and keyword seo campaigns equally weighted.

Not always true, I have the same site #1 in places and organic. The organic is always above the places when this happens.

trying doing more citations for your business which is 2nd factor in local SEO. Like doing 500-600 citations. doing image geotagging, copyrighting images and using them of website and in youtube videos. KML maps submissions directories. I think you need them all as well.

With all of my clients, I strive for 7-pack. On my end, it has proven to be more beneficial and have seen increased business for clients.

For clients with multiple locations, I treat each location as their own separate entity and try to rank their location page on 7-pack. Then the main site I will rank organically. Most the time, the location page will be higher on the SERPs but that's ok with me.
