Why are so many BHW "businessman" scared to talk on the phone/move off telegram? Why are people scared of the phone?

If you knew your business would grow by $1,000,000 would you do 10,000 cold calls? I see in your signature it says always looking for new people. Why don't you just call people up?

Web devleopment is probably the funniest industry. It's full of introverts. If you're a web developer who cold calls and does it well and can communicate well you're gonna blow the rest of your competitors out of the water. Just for the simple fact you can get on the phone.
Well i did not know you was mister know it all. Who is already rich and is making this post from his multi million dollar mansion. But in all seriousness. Just because you do cold calls does not mean you get to be successful. Like door to door sales men/women who offer you a energy contract for a small fee they get. Just because you like to do something does not mean it is the right thing to do. Go to people house where they live in peace and not only offer but nearly harass them for a little gain. You take advantage of em that way. Some people have a hard time saying no. So should you take advantage of em? Especially when you think about this sale people are not even doing it for their own company but just get a fee to harass people. Well harass all you want but first of its not good and secondly one day you will meet someone who is gonna stop all that for you. And you as the harasser is wrong. Taking advantage of people your whole life then one day it is gonna catch up to you.

I love selling over the phone. But its gotta be worth my time. I'm not jumping on a call for a $99 order. The crazy part is that I'll run into clients that insist on a call (or several) for LOW ticket items. Blows my mind how little they value their own time tbh...smh.

\ I've never harrased anyone in my life selling. If someone seems not interested I never call them back. If someone says they're interested and I think it'd be a waste of time or they're not a good fit I drop them.

I've learned so much about you just by your little text rant. You think sales is scammy probably because you don't have a good offer and aren't involved in good business practices.

For you, yes do not call anyone. By the sound of your message and how you project you probably don't have a good service/offer/business.

Again, please do not call anyone. This post is not for you or for people who sell products that can only be sold by harrasing.

Good luck bro

For me, language/accent is the main barrier that stops me from choosing phone calls haha.

I think the internet made people too comfortable being introverted weirdos.
You have a huge point on that. I have never been a social butterfly kind of guy but yeah, this affected me, I guess.

The thing is, when I had a legimitate business to promote and had to talk on the phone: I just did it without whining. However, I can't deny that I never liked it.

Talking to people over the phone is one of the pillars of communication. If you are unwilling to do this, you simply do not know how to communicate. My biggest deals have been over the phone, and you get so much more done in such a short amount of time.

It is also a lot easier to know someone's intentions when you are talking to them on the phone. A lot can be misunderstood over text.

maybe they don't want to get recorded, people usually do that as proof during calls and now with AI is easy to clone the voice but might be other reasons I can only thing in these two.

Well let me tell you the perspective for harassment differs you prob think you are doing nothing wrong. Maybe your brain just cant comprehend it. Thats oke. Im telling you something if you dont want to listen that is on you. You talk about projecting things have you though about yourself? Making a thread that says call 10 000 people or whatever.

Why not send letters to your would be clients then? That should also be done.

In my experience, people who want such 'calls' are only looking forward to wasting time. I mean is it the 90s or 80s and are we Jordan Belfort?

because you don't have a good offer and aren't involved in good business practices.
Oh boy.

not really.
ive done business 100% online in my life

and i have done pretty good over the years, but yeah its always good to go out with friends/party haha
Yup, same here. I've worked in a call center, made a few thousands calls, still hate it. Usually, I am doing 95% online, but once a year, I need to refill some equipment which I am buying from second-hand local marketplaces. Man, I blast through the calls and make a lots of good deals, but overall, I like building automated systems and being lazy

Hah, I can share my perspective here as I am one of those guys who never ever want to take a call over the phone.

First of all, and most importantly: I am an introverted weirdo, just like you stated.

Most of technical people - are just like that.

Deal with it or get chatty over the phone call with that other guy who will then probably resell the service from us.

Another reason - very often people like you - who want to force talking details over phone - doesn't understand that sometimes a proper answer takes time to think about, might take a minute, might take few hours or even more. but it takes time.

Third reason, this is highly subjective but it is what it is: you will annoy me. and I get less annoyed by choosing the time when you will do so.

Another thing, phone calls are rude when unscheduled, and you cant imagine how many of my past agency clients did call me just to chat about their projects, dreams, future plans, and so on.

And people gets comfy with this, even if you scheduled your first introduction call, soon after you will get DMs like "hey can we jump in a quick call". No ffs, if I'm online, I'm working on something, stop being so rude and respect other people's time and work.

Personally, I think e-mails are best! They will:
1. force you to think before talk/write
2. gather together your questions, structure them
3. will let the recipient decide when to read/address your issue

for this reason, I never call myself if there is absolutely no other option.

Respect for this reply.

"

Hit me hard. My bad to anyone who is super technical and really good at what they do but not a salesperson. I wouldn't say this was targeted at you. I relay on a bunch of people behind the scenes to fullfill what I do.

Honestly reading these replies, I see business opportunities. The tech guy who creates the software is usually making the bigger chunk while guys like me sell it and get paid 20-30%

If you're a developer or technology person keep killing it out there. I'd highly recommend getting someone who can talk for your team. If you don't like sales outsource it. Just make sure someone in your company (if you can support it if you can't you probably need to work on your sales a little even if it sucks. )
For me, right now I'm working on a new software app. I'm not a developer so I'm outsourcing that so I can just focus on sales which is what I like. Could easily be the other way though.

Really liking the conversation this thread has created. Lots of good replies and valid points even if people think im an asshole right now lol.

This is why I love e-commerce.

No high ticket stuff therefore no phone calls.

Introvert me is very happy.
Lol, I feel you on that, this is why I don't do high ticket as well. The introvert in me just doesn't go well with it. Just buy what you want, let me deliver and go on with your day and I go on with mines.

I have said this previously on this forum a call or a video call interview is the best way to filter out medicore quality services and/or unacceptable language skills.

This is mostly because they lack the actual skillset required for the job/gig and are either resellers or have half knowledge on the subject.

A small section of these people are actually scared to talk despite having a decent skillset.
It's just like those students who're scared and nervous of reading the news from the stage during the morning assembly in school.
