Why are my views rocketing up?

October recently said he'd give people 50k youtube views free.. I pmed him my link a while ago, and just the other day I got 60k (I never got a response to my PM though so it might not be him??), which is great, but now I'm at 190k!!

?????????

Other than the idea that October is doing this (I just PMed him), what could be the reason?

I'm afraid my video is going to get deleted because I have absolutely NO comments, backlinks, or ratings! Shit!!!

Doesn't your video move up in the results for certain keywords if more people view it? Maybe people are just finding it themselves? I don't know anything about YouTube marketing, I'm just guessing.

How does youtube work?? do you have a site other than your video where people can check out your aff links and/or adsense???... can you send them to a blog???

I've been wondering if I should try it out for a while now!!! (with the iPhone 3G being out and all, faster streaming youtube videos!!!)....
 
Search ranking is dependent upon more than just views.. I'm on the first page, but since I have no backlinks, ratings, or comments, I'm not rated as well.

I watermark my niche video with the corresponding niche blog website and also include the link in the description.
 
wtf????? October said he didn't send me any views.

There's no way I got that many hits organically. No way.
 
one of us sent u some hits from a bot more than likey, either for fun or testing. I often boost others videos fors shits and giggles
 
Can you disable comments, take some heat off. Ratings I'm not sure of.
Good way (I mean bad) to remove the competition.
Not my style tho' I'm a superstitious karma freak
 
octobers is using a special type of exploit to boost the views. you can squeeze 20 of the same videos into a 2mm square and do a special trick ;)
 
I'm at 239k right now.... I didn't post my vid anywhere here... it's erratically going up. I guess it must be some competition randomly increasing my views to get me banned, as you all suggested.

Give me a link to the video, I want to see the statistics stuff.
Might give a hint to where hits are coming from

It did get an honor a bit ago when it hit like 190k... something like #13 most viewed in Health category... could that have caused the influx? I would have assumed I'd get at least get ONE comment or rating from organic views.
 
It's like hitting a jackpot off a slot machine, enjoy it, edit your video and add some CPA shit links
 
G Analytics for the blog I'm advertising with the video says I have 1 hit with youtube as referrer (link in vid descript).
 
yeh lol for sure. i usually test on some vids and giv them some rates.. favs or views. i wouldnt worry to much though.

Oh my god , I never thought people actually did that sort of stuff. I mean, I know they do it with SERPs but ...

Anyways, have you checked your "Insight" data for the video? In particular, I'd check the "Discovery", "Views" and "Demographics" tabs. I wonder what shows up there.

Actually, youtube works a little different. It still can happen but it takes a lot of work to ruin a video rank by amping it up, as youtube doesn't care about the hits you get. It's the views, reviews and comments that they pay attention to.

Ride it out and take it for what it is worth.
