    Hi,

I'm looking for some advise as I don't really understand whats going on.

I recently built a website for my vacation rental business,

    coconutparadisevillas

Ive tried to optimise a few of my pages, and started a link building campaign focusing mainly on the homepage to begin with, but now most of my internal pages have jumped up to pr3, yet my homepage remains pr1?

Any thoughts as to why this could be happening?

    Many Thanks

It could be that one your pages have an backlink from a high pagerank and your homepage not!

The reason behind this is your internal pages are getting quality backlinks and your homepage isn't. Or you are not optimizing the homepage well enough.Anchor text is the main concern, look that you are not over optimizing it.

It's probably because your inner pages have better content and are more recognizable (in google's eyes) then your main page. I'd try to better optimize your homepage.

because they probably have more back links than the homepage, but that's not bad as long as you rank for both

There is also a chance your homepage has a panda/penguin penalty. They are applied on a page-by-page basis so your homepage could be affected but inner pages aren't.

Hi. Where does the bulk of your content reside? It's in the inner pages, right? If you want to improve your homepage PR, try to do deep linking (linking your homepage to your inner pages).

May your contents in the internal pages are more valuable than the home pages that is why you are getting like this.

This is exactly what I think. Usually the inner pages are the ones with all the "meat" and "juice" that people need. I say keep up the good word and perhaps link some more middle pages to your home page.

What anuj291 said, link some of those inner pages to your homepage, that will DEFF make it rank higher.
