Why are local business listing listed at top and sometimes in the middle?

Ever notice that the local business results show up at top and sometimes they show up under organic results.?

Does anyone know why its never in the same place?

Quite a bit, actually. It could be you are confusing paid placements (which will be at the top and right side) with organic results.

Sometimes, they list the Maps box first in local results, so the company in spot "a" in the 7 box or 10 box ends up at the top above the organic listings.

no im not getting confused..

sometimes the business block shows up above all the organic results but sometimes the organic results show 1-3 results above the business block
