I hit 23K followers a month ago & feel like I've plateaued. I've always done follow / unfollow, but I feel like I'm at a point now where I should just "grow". When doing follow / unfollow I'm getting 200+ new followers a day - and they generally stick when I start unfollowing. I don't see a mass exodus. When I stop follow / unfollow, I'm lucky to get 10 followers a day?!? General photography niche - landscapes, buildings, etc. I've been around here long enough now to know the first thing that'll come out of your mouths: content. Okay, I'm a pretty good photographer in my own right, but let's see. For the past two weeks I've posted nothing but gallery quality photos I've downloaded from Pixabay. Guess what? They get the same number of likes & comments as my photos. AND I'm only getting 10 new followers a day. Captions. I've tried funny captions; inspirational captions; deep thought captions. Engagement always stays consistent. Hashtags. I generally use tags in the 500k - 1M range & would say that I'm in the top posts on those tags about 80% of the time most any given day. Engagement on my part: I reply to EVERY SINGLE COMMENT that is left on my photos. I go out & like hundreds of photos a day & comment on hundreds, too. My theory, which seems to be backed up by my Instagram insights, is that I'm not being seen. Why would that be? According to my insights, my top post in the past week (which was Pixabay artwork) had a reach of 2099 & engagement of 1782. What's going on here? Why am I unable to grow organically??
