My site is not ranking at all for Joel Goldstein google search and I have JoelGoldstein.com with my name all over the site!

I can't figure this out. Please help it's rather embarrassing, even though i never actually work on SEO for my site.

well if you look at your site structure

<title>Orlando SEO, Joel Goldstein, Quality Website Design</title>

I would put this
<title>Joel Goldstein ,Orlando SEO, Quality Website Design</title>

<h1>The Ugly Truth About SEO Outsourcing</h1>

i would put

<h1>The Ugly Truth About SEO Outsourcing by Joel Goldstein</h1>

then ping your sites a little with pingler.com and keep adding a little bit of fresh unique content, do not do overkill on the Joel Goldstein

Good suggestion, thank you.

Maybe I will start using it like a blog.

yep that was basically what i was going to say , probably better that you throw up a wordpress blog, they are great for the serp's

Actually I forgot that a lot of my content was totally copied. So I went back through it and make it more original.

Is there a place here were people dig each others site, like a digg farm? I could use some diggs that'd help.

if you really want to rank for your name i would do the title tag as already outlined but for your header tags do this...

<h1>Joel Goldstein</h1>

<h2>The Ugly Truth About SEO Outsourcing</h2>

and then somewhere in your text mention your name again and wrap it in bold tags

and somewhere else mention your name again and do it as a href to a page called joel-goldstein.htm

and make sure you have an image on the page somewhere that called joel-goldstein.jpg and alt text with your name in it too...

actually when your search your name now you will probably find this post comes up top in google! LOL

also check out yahoo your sites listed on the front page of google - i mentioned in post earlier today about keywords in the domain and you can see from the results on yahoo that my theory does appear to be true... the top sites have the keywords of the search listed in them...

Okay, Joel...Why are you trying to rank an seo business for your name-sake in a keyword that is targeted for the lasik eye surgery niche for traffic?

Focus on " seo " keywords and that relevant content by promoting the company name and service you are providing instead of self-branding. This is a bad guru tactic and not a good one for anyone with a new business to use.

You have to build your company and service reputation up as a stable, reliable and result producing establishment before you start showing off as the guy behind it. No one cares about you as a person. They only care as to if your business does what it claims in it's service/product.

Redirect your business targeting on the people that need to see it and give them the information promoting your business, not yourself. You'll do way better in the market.

Even if you decide to stick the route of pushing yourself as the go-to guy for seo, at least present your site in the right catagory of relevant keyword listings.

Sorry to be so blunt but it's the truth that you need to know. You are shooting yourself in the foot with going after keywords that aren't relevant and shows exactly how skilled or not that you are in your ability to do what you claim.

Hope this helps.

kinda wondered that too! if you are trying to push your SEO services its very unlikely anyone will actually ever type your name

i often talk to clients and they tell me "but we rank high for our business name"

and i have the same response to them

"nobody knows your name on the internet, they are not going to search for you business by name but by the services you offer - now do a search for the services that you offer and show me where you appear now..."

thats when they realize they need help and that there 12yr nephew who built them the site doesnt really understand SEO/SEM

also in the copyright section at the bottom of your webpage, put your website url and not your company name

Actually, he will want to leave that the way it is, as it is the company that he is licensed for operation under that will hold the actual legal protection for it if it is filed.

Sure but the thing is that the government in the U.S. Dept. of Copyrights only defends the listing if it shows for the filed entity being listed next to that copyright symbol. A website is not an entity, it is a website. There as to be a person or business as the listed owner/creator of the product or service.

The website is merely a promotional tool. Same thing with a patent and/or trademark.

Couldn't he just do both of em? :p

Haha, Yes! So the deal is this isn't my SEO Site, it is a site that I have dedicated for Myself and my businesses. My actual SEO site gets tons of traffic and is set up perfectly.

This site I threw together for myself so when someone types in my name to check me out they'll get directed here.

That's what he is claiming on the site. However, these amature-esque mistakes are clearly showing that he isn't the man for the job. Harsh but true.

so our dear Joel is nothing but a con?

if you need my help lemme know, I can get your site rank for your name + another word(?) of my choice in no time

well our questioning is not really a matter of whether it is your "SEO" site or not, it is a question of how the hell did you become a "SEO" consultant when you clearly do not understand the basics of on-page SEO?

Okay, I call your bluff. Prove it. What's the name of the real site?

I second this...
Gotta back yourself up now otherwise no one will believe anything you say.

And if your real site brings in a ton of traffic, why didn't you duplicate the success to this site?
