    short version: The only add that really works is word of mouth. how to get it? have a good service or product. In the real world you need adds so people know your product/service exists. on the net we already have search engines for that. adds on the internet make no sense. SEO, a good product name and an amazing website are what's important.

    Of course is online advertisement working. If you show the godaddy ad to 20 million internet users more will go check the site than when you show it to 20 million tv viewers.

    Whenever I see a gold selling or hardware or sextoy ad I usually check it out because it is targeted. I never check cars, watches or banks from whole page newspaper ads and usually shake magazines over the trash bin to get rid of all the leaflets / inserts before I even look at the first page because they are untargeted.
