Who's Using Kickapps Sites for Backlink Building?

Is anyone here using Kickapps social networking sites to grab backlinks? (these are the sites contained in Backlink Goldmine 3 & 4)

I was reading through the Kickapps webmasters board (where they are freaking out trying to find a way to stop us from putting links on profiles there) and the admin people said they didn't know why we were doing it as all of the kickapps communities shared the same IP whether they show as hosted on the kickapps domain or on the site owners domain.

I thought this strange so I pinged the URL of a few of the sites (both self-hosted and Kickapps hosted) and sure enough the IP address came up the same.

Now people are reporting getting huge boosts by scoring links from these sites...does that mean the whole idea of getting backlinks from one IP address being useless is wrong?

Ive been using kickapps for a while now (didnt know about backlink goldmine). I have had one site go to number one for a very competitive term but I hadnt attributed it to that. I will try some more linkbuilding to see what happens.

I had been writing blog posts rather than putting the links in the profile. I also didnt know about the ip thing.
