Who's Hanging Up There IM Boots In 2009?

it's easy for people to say "shut your computer off at 5pm", but the problem is, i'm very obsessive.

If i need a bot making, i'll make one, and won't stop until its done. If i need a website, i'll make one until i'm happy with it. If i need anything, i just do it. However, i outsourced alot of my work recently only to get shot down. I spent more time and money fixing there poor work. It is true, you get what you pay for, but i was just trying it out to see how well it helped me. Maybe i'll pay more next time and see the results.

I don't have just one income stream, however they all revolve around content (as most of the web does). I used to freelance articles, keep the rights, sell them on AC & publish on helium then sell the article packs on places like DP, put make niche websites based around content i had written etc. so for 5 articles i'd make about >$90 ($18/article) then any bonus's on top of that from the adsense/websites etc. You all probably class this as one income stream, but theres 5 sources of income based around 1 task. If i can wrtite an article in 15 mins, thats $72 an hour, which is alot more than most people earn in a day job anyway (even if its not "pure" IM).

I'm glad alot of people are looking forward to 2009, and i'm glad alot of people really love IM. I was drawn to it as it's one of the last truely "scalable" incomes - not limited by the hours you work etc. But it seems other opportunities exist which are more to my taste, so i'm going to persue those for a while and see where i get to!

At least i'll be safe in the knowledge i can come back to IM and make some bank if i ever run low, but hopfully that won't happen

I am happy and sorry to hear that. Happy that you are doing what you thing you should do But I'm sorry because you look for problems on wrong places. You started this game for all wrong reasons and with wrong mindset and I don't mean it like an insult

When you do business you have to have your goals set, plan how to make it, you have to diversify the game and most important you must have exit plan.
I plan to work next couple months a lot, but I will try to organize myself better, then I think I will have organized business that will not need me to make a profit. Goal is to have automated and outsourced system. I am 24 now and I plan to retire with 26-27 haha.. I will not stop earning money but I plan to work like couple of hours a week.

Basically everything you do you have to set a -reasons -goals -exit plan.

p.s. you really had 1 stream of money, and it was bad. I mean you wrote articles yourself :- you should have spent those time looking for a good writers, maybe even pay them a bit more. There are Philipinos that are good in eng. you should have tried like 10-20 of them. Make a better selection/interview process. You should have spent more time on planing and automating the system. And about worrying too much, well that's the problem in you not IM. You should have had more of non-computer activities like sports and volunteering like you plan to

oh, i did outsource. They fucked me over. everytime. i had 4 writers who were fluent in english and the articles were of such low quality they were un usable. So after buying about 60 and having to re-write every single one, i gave up outsourcing them.

I started this as some fun, but it got OTT very quick. you have no idea how much i planned everything. I have projects in the works which i have been working on for over 4 months, but i simply cannot put any more time into them. I work on them for about 6-12 hours a week, every day, every week and every month, but until they're finished there is no money for me, and i really cannot be fucked spending another 200 or so hours finishing these when i could be doing other things and have a huge smile on my face.

I didn't have the wrong mindset. i put the time, the effort and the grind in. every single day, my music time (6 hours/day) got replaced with IM & earning money, but there is no point anymore. I'll choose a guitar anyday. I had innovative ideas, changed things and used them for my own gain, but i was never happy with the way things were being done. all the CPA/PPC campaigns i was never happy with, so thats why i stuck to articles & content marketing.

I'll be glad to get away from all this tbh!

The ideas in this forum are useful for ANY business. Say you`re trying to be a marine biologist (lol, I`m thinking of Seinfeld right now) or anything you LOVE, and you`re experiencing difficulties, this is the place where you will find your answers. The guys on this forum know every trick "not" in the book. It`s very useful because the mentality is razor sharp : cut through the BS and make money (replace that with whatever you love doing, maybe playing guitar). I hope to see you around in 2009, if only in the lounge section

good luck Jammie but your in too deep lol as long as you have an Internet connection or spare time on your hands you will be doing IM. You'll come here everynow and then and one day you will see a method you just cant pass on and you will be reeled back in. I think the key is do IM when you have time and stick to your normal routines.

You WILL be doing IM next year, whether YOU like it or not

Its funny that this topic was brought up because I have been considering giving up some of my affiliate/IM marketing in 2009. I was actually thinking of selling some of scripts (buyer would own it), a few of my cookie stuffed websites, and one of my traffic sources.

Now IM has made my life better and I would not be giving it up completely but offloading about 1/3 of it. A lot of people don't realize that marketing whether black hat or website is actually work.

For jammie, mindset is the key. If you see that something isn't working than you should think what have you done wrong and not blame other factors. It's always problem in us and to be successful you gotta overcome yourself first. I am not talking just about IM I am talking about life in general.

For example, you've said you had 4 writers and written 60 articles? Why didn't you hire 60 writers to write you a single article? Or maybe even 120 writers? Why haven't you perfected your interview process? If others can outsource then there is no f... way that you can't do it. Just work more on outsourcing management and not on writing articles yourself. Or JV with someone who is better in outsourcing and you do the rest.

You said you planned a lot, you worked a lot. Well you should have put more time in analyzing the problems and fixing them. Every problem has a solution.

Maybe you had too big and too ambitious plans, you see there is always something you can fix.

And my friend FYI you haven't been doing IM you've been doing manual labour so it's not strange that you were unhappy.

And you have answered to my post like 10 minutes after, you haven't even thought about your mindset, and that is the biggest problem I see all the time why people aren't successful they protect and justify their own mindset even if they are completely wrong. The most successful day in my life I consider the one when I decided to think about and change my mindset, attitude and think about working and evolving myself and I don't mean just physically. There is no excuses for me anymore, everything that isn't doing good it's my own fault and I had to find a solution on my own.


But you know what they say, if you think you can't do it than you can't.

Same here I will be giving up IM in 09. I have started my offline business and I need to put more focus in to that.

Why not spend a few extra months ploughing your IM money into more passive forms of income? Buy some established sites, or set up a few hundred bans sites and autoblogs, all interlinked, market them a little and then sit back and watch your passive income stream take place.

For me, IMing shouldn't be your life, it should be the thing that gives you the freedom to live your life. The freedom to work whatever job you want regardless of pay (eg working with children in a poor country, volunteering on a game park in africa, etc, anything rewarding), the freedom to enjoy life without worrying about the costs, etc.

i intend to put *more* time into im next year. and i'm going to start by actually
reading all of those ebooks i have stored on my hdd -- all 250 mb worth.

what i could really use is a harpy or a shrew. someone who will egg me on, day after day
after day. the kind of woman whose very existence is soooo utterly noxious that you're
virtually compelled to be a success. just so that you can get the hell away from her before
you go circus-freak psycho.

that's the kind of motivation i need on a daily basis...

IM to me has been a dream come true. I've been fascinated with computers ever since I was young, and I knew my future would revolve around programming. However, I didn't want to be some company's code monkey making 40K per year. I wanted to use my skills for something a lot more rewarding, and IM fits the profile perfectly. Plus the fact that IM is always changing and evolving prevent me from ever becoming bored by it.

In short, I think you'll be back. Like john said, once you go black you never go back. Getting my first paycheck for my online ventures completely changed my life.

Are you Sweetfunny from DP? If so, what is your reason for giving up IM?

For me it's quite the opposite! Im a young guy, only just graduated from high school, but this is giving me the opportunity to do something interesting right off the bat! I've always had a passion for computers and I love to pick at things and see what makes them tick. That is what makes this game appeal to me. You win, you lose but no matter what happens you always learn and get better with every twist.

I think some of you are right, something like this CAN take over your life however only if you let it! You are an entrepreneur, how do you want to run your business? People choose their own fate.

I actually know what you mean. When I started IM, it was a way to get out of the regular 9-5. To lead the 'ultimate IM lifestyle' working from home..

Boy! Were the myths dispelled? Its hard work. I get out to the 'real' world less often. And sometimes I feel the only thing I'm doing is earning money and not fulfilling anyting else. :?

I'm changing my focus as well. Being on the computer for 8 hrs a day literally ended
my marriage.
I'll be needing something stable to support me and my kids.
It was fun while it lasted!
